“chinese vatican”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 7, 2012

This was a surprise, this palace is 200m long x 150m wide, st peters basilica is 200m x 80m . It cost hundreds of millions to build and there has been tons of gold used by chinese govt, no expense spared. If you are not impressed by the magnitude of whats in front of you then you may as well go back home. The chinese are pushing all modern boundaries and are achieving incredible things, this is one of them. I like that i'm seeing it in pristine condition, not old and in need of maintenance. If you want to see history go to Beijing, as the whole city (Wuxi) is only 10 years old. Its located in the same park as lingshan buddha, the tallest bronze statue in the world and weighs 700 ton. How they got it up on top of the hill I dont know. This whole place left me in awe.

“Seemed too staged”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 24, 2012

Visited this Vatican Palace along with the giant Buddha. Seemed like this wasn't a historic sight at all and just something that was put up to attract tourists. Don't get me wrong, the Vatican Palace was very nice, but in a place like China, we'd prefer to see more historic sights rather than a place made just to attract tourists that didn't exist 20 years ago.
