Be artistic; come throw some clay! What a great place to find! I have taken many of my Soochow University students here. The staff is helpful and kind. They are ceramic gurus. Even if you are a beginner, you will leave with a pot to be proud of. There are four wheels for throwing clay. It is 100 yuan ($16) for clay, painting, and firing one pot. It's cheaper if you don't paint, or if you only want to paint and not throw. It's also cheaper if you buy a discount card. There are four tables for painting your finished work or already-made ware if you don't have the time to throw a point and you just want to paint. Once you throw your pot, you must wait about three days for it to dry before you can paint it. Then you paint on the clay before the first firing (be careful because it is fragile), and it takes about a week to get it fired. On the weekends this place is hopping. Be prepared for lots of loud children (earplugs are useful). On the weekdays it's lovely and much less crowded. They are open until 8 p.m. on Saturdays. It is a wonderful thing to do on a rainy day, but I love it every day.
