Would this be considered a good Italian restaurant. The pasta here is very bland. The pizzas are so uneventful, I would seriously rather eat a frozen pizza. Even though it bills itself as Italian, this place still tastes a little chinesey. Everything is quite expensive. The wine prices are outrageous. I suspect this place stays in business because of all the American/European/Australian businessmen with expense accounts who are staying in the area and are willing to pay 200RMB for some spaghetti and wine. I can't justify their boring food with the large bill. The service was good. They seem to have some fun with food presentation - breadsticks 1 meter long, pastas arranged on a long rectangle.... The atmosphere is not fancy but pleasant and nice.

Many Italians go there because of the location but mainly because of the owner, Franz, that is really excellent and friendly. unfortunately the food quality is absolutely not at level of their price.
Pizza is not a real one. Only the north Italian or french people can consider it acceptable.
Franz is making a lot of effort to improve the chef quality but he has also to improve the food quality first.
if you want to meet italian friends, that is the place, but forget to have an excellent dinner.

we tried the restaurant this weekend and ordered Pizzas and noodle dishes as well as a kids menu.
the place is nice and clean and staff was very friendly and helpful all the time.
they serviced us well.
i liked to choice of small dishes to a cheaper price since i dont always want to eat a truck-wheel-diameter pizza i think this options are very good!

the problem is the food is just so so.....nothing really special. the noodle dish sounded much better then it actually was and the pizza dough could have done with a little bit more salt!

all in all it is not the worst place to go to enjoy some real italian food but also not the best in suzhou.
better is to go there and check it yourself.
some people may love it!!!

The pizza was not good - tasted stale. Papa Johns has a better pizza than Da Mario. the only reason people go there is because of the owner.
