Went there Feb 2014 on business. Stayed for 1 week.
This is the second Scholars hotel I stayed in, first being in Hangzhou.
Location is near the industry park and basically middle of nowhere, you would only want to stay here if you need to access the area. Hotel decoration is in the same vein spotting an old Chinese style lobby. Both lobby and room are smaller and look to be in lower quality than their Hangzhou branch.
Room is clean but small, got everything you need but nothing to be wow about. Bed is comfortable and sleeping quality is good.
Hotel spot very limited facilities. 2 Restaurants, a very basic business centre and I think that's it.
Breakfast is decent for a local hotel but varieties quite limited.
Service is very 2.5 - 3 stars standard, efficient but not proactive at all. You asked and most of the times you get, no one will go out on his way to help and staff are more interested in talking among themselves than to smile at you.
I quite like the Hangzhou Scholars but the Suzhou branch is a bit off the standard.
Price was around RMB450 and I found it to be on the expensive side given the quality of...well, everything.
Given the location and the price, will not return if it was my call.
