They have a nice bell, great artwork in the tower as you climb up (you can take the elevator if you're 70), nice views of the city and the bridges. Pretty gardens. A lot to look at.

There are not a lot of historical places to check out in Wuhan, so if you are there, this is one to check out. The entrance fee was 80 Yuan when we went, so around $12 US. Climbing up the tower is worth it as it provides views of Wuhan. And it's good exercise! Plan on about an hour or two at a leisurely pace for this attraction.

Wuhan is a huge town - actually a combination of three cities. It's hard to find some historical sites amidst the rapidly urbanising landscape. The Yellow Crane Tower and the relatively small surrouding park are a nice haven in this very dense town. Note that the Tower has in fact been rebuilt rather recently, and it shows. But it is impressive and offers some beautiful views. Go there when it's not too hot and the light is not too harsh (avoid the middle of the day in summer time). The park around, with its various buildings, is quite enjoyable. The price is fairly high, at 80 yuans.

If we did not have the benefit of the tour guide the visit would still have been enjoyable. The view of Wuhan helped orient us to the city and the views are panoramic ....you would have to be a tough judge to discount this site. The snippets shared by the tour guide provided a richer experience which I found informative. Yes the tower is rebuilt, part of the story is the long history of re-building on the site over hundreds and hundreds of years. There may be other sites in China but for a western visitor this is well worth the time and effort. It is well maintained, the aspect, and the gardens, the millennium bell, the carvings and markets are worth a look. May was not too hot, would consider this in planning a visit and try not to do to much with the rest of the day as the steps are plentiful. I really enjoyed the Yellow Crane Tower.
