A good welcome from staff from the start, which set a positive tone for the stay; I found all the staff helpful and pleasant throughout. The room was clean and elegant, with extras which are always nice - fruit in the room, extra toiletries. I good stay.

Top marks for Roy, great concierge with a fine attention to detail. I appreciated his service. The hotel is good with a fantastic gym and good pool. Rooms were starting to look a little tired but I enjoyed my stay here. The Tori-Ji restaurant was decent.

This hotel is located on a side street and the city center. It is about one hour away from the high-speed rail station. Due to the constant subway construction in Wuhan, plan your travels with plenty of buffer time to and from this hotel. The gym equipment is a bit old, but functional. And the pool was a bit small: more like a 15 m lap swim. The staff are efficient, and the rooms are clean. I had a very comfortable business stay here.

What makes the Shangri-La Wuhan shine is its staff. From the moment you walk in the front door you are made to feel welcome and at home. Rooms are comfortable and immaculate but compared to newer properties a bit dated and small.

Not that it is the hotel's fault but Wuhan traffic is atrocious and the street in front of the hotel is currently torn up to build a new subway so getting in and out can take a bit of extra time.

i have stayed at this hotel at least eight times over the past few years and it has always maintained its excellent standards.

Dear David S,Thank you for staying at Shangri-La Hotel, Wuhan and sharing your experience with us. We are glad to know you enjoyed your stay and we do value your comments about the room concerned. On the issue you mentioned, Wuhan traffic has been very bad due to the ongoing subway construction. After this short transportation upgrade, we expect the metro’s operation to be more convenient for travel. We look forward to welcoming you back in the near future. Thank you.

Felt like going back 50 years with the smells of old lady's perfume in the lobby.  Rated as "5-star' by Chinese standards, but more like 4 stars on the international scale.  The Shangri-la hotels seem to really have a local Asian flavor all around.

Even though was built in the late 1990s, this hotel looks fairly aged from the outside and inside.  Definitely had a Chinese hotel flavor from old-styled marble, aging carpeting, dark wood furniture and dated architecture, rusty smelling water, and dusty curtains.  TV has mostly local Chinese channels, so that could be the litmus test.  Standard room seemed quite small.  Bed was comfortable and bathroom a good size, but looks dated.  Towels were gray and scratchy.  Standard toiletries, minus the mouthwash, though.

Lobby and restrooms smell of smoke, even though it's not allowed- typical Chinese social courtesy to fellow comrades.  Hallways have old carpets and smell of toilets for some reason on the 17th floor.

Breakfast was average.  No fresh squeezed juices or imported yogurts - another reflection of lower star-quality to save money.  Employees generally nice and speak some English.

Nothing around the area, except constant construction and old housing blocks to view.  Well, if it wasn't for business in the area, I would not choose to stay here.  Basically, spend your money and time in a more modern, newly built hotel unless you have no other choice.

Room Tip: High room towards back for more quite

I only stayed here for 3 hours...we were supposed to arrive in the evening, but from a car ride delay, we didn't get to the hotel until 3 am and then had to leave at 6 a.m.

All i can say is the hotel is beautiful, clean, staff are excellent and very helpful and freindly.

The rooms were as pictures shown on the website, beds were comfortable, wifi was fast and free, and the doggy bag of breakfast in the morning was delightful, something they display in the morning in the lobby.

It's about 20 minutes away from the train station with no traffic, so it was very convenient!

If you are trying to find a place to stay, i recommend this place...price is decent too... I think, I didn't pay for it lol

Enjoy!

The staff is wonderful and the swimming pool and gym are really nice. Additionally, they have a very relaxing changing room including two different saunas and jacuzzis. I will definitely return if I visit Wuhan again!
