Not so far from the Optics valley software park is the lovely Donhu- the East lake. I arrived there on one winter afternoon to calm down the stress of all and the moment I arrived, the gentle breeze blowing over the sparkling ripples of the lovely lake flew me to the land of dreams. Really lovely to spend some leisurely time, especially with someone close to heart.

The Donghu (East Lake) just located in the Wuhan city. The lake is huge that it is even bigger than the famous West Lake in Hangzhou. The most impressive thing is that they have built a swimming pool just in the lake so that people can enjoy the lake view while swimming. It is a quiet park, if you want to be off the city for a while, just spend some time in the park, enjoy the beautiful view, trees, birds' singing...

Different views of the lake in different seasons. Avoid weekends and public holiday. Traffic totally jammed as there is only one lane traffic on most bridges across the lake

The East Lake is huge - besides the National Park, also try:
- Take a boat (those operated privately and paddled by a local farmer) gliding around the lake (100-200 RMB for a 45 min ride);
- Take a visit to Wuhan University, "the most beautiful campus in China", (if it's in the sakura/cherry blossom season, expect literally a million other visitors)
- Try a local "fish-ball soup" restaurant around the lake; there are probably many of them around the Hubei Provincial Museum region and outside the park, if not ask a local or even the taxi driver.
Enjoy!
