“Amazing. Must go at night. Bundle up!!!”

Must go at night. Just bundle up because it is even colder after the sun goes down. Kids loved the Angry Birds ice park. Great ice slides too.

“Spectacular ice and snow sculptures”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 18, 2013

The cost to get into the park was 300 RMB, which is about $50. The ice sculptures were glowing in multi colored lights. The snow sculptures were intricately carved. Everything was just amazing! There were ice slides that you could slide down for free...that was a blast. Make sure to wear ski pants when doing so...you'll slide down much faster. People wearing jeans got stuck on the slides. It was negative 4 degrees Centigrade at the park, so make sure to dress warm enough or you'll freeze after about an hour there.

“Amazing, words can't describe it!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 15, 2013

It is truly amazing what they did with ice blocks. And even more impressive is how they used light to bring the whole thing alive. Best time is to come about an hour before the sun goes down because you can then watch the city become alive when the colored lights are turned on. It allows you to see the town during the day. Then, when it gets dark go inside and have a coffee and warm up. Then, go out again when it's dark to experience this amazing place.

Photos are great with a tripod. Without it, it will be tough to get the proper atmosphere although many places are lit well enough so a tripod is not required. Other than the amazing architecture, another highlight was the arctic fox you could hold for a fee. The sides were fun as well although you have to be prepared for local safety standards. One of the kids in our group got nailed by yet another immature local male (adult) who thought it was a good idea not to wait until the children were safely out of the way before launching himself down the slide.

Finally, two and a half hours is more than enough. No need to go twice as long as you plan a break inbetween.

“Excellent but expensive”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 14, 2013

We had a great time at the Ice Festival - the sculptures and buildings are really amazing and beautiful to see. We all had a great time on the many slides too. As we went during Chinese New Year there weren't many people there at all, which was a very pleasant surprise. It is very cold (no surprise!) so either be prepared to take lots of little breaks in the cafes or just have a shorter visit. Since it is 330rmb per adult you probably want to get some value for money and stay for a while, so consider bringing some of your own snacks...make sure you dress as warmly as possible (you'll still be frozen by the end) and do organise your ride back to the hotel ahead of time or you could be stuck there (or have to walk which would take ages in the cold!).

“Wow!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 8, 2013

This is a must-see event when in China during the winter. We arrived around 6.30pm and it seemed to be a good time as there were no longer any long lines to get in. As stated by others, it's a smart and economic thing to arrange a taxi that will wait for you (we arranged one to be with us for the whole day). You really don't want to wait in a long taxi queu at -25 degrees at the end of the evening.
Dress warm! We were wearing 5 layers, with our skiing clothes on top. Silk inner gloves (easier to handle the camera without your fingers freezing) in ski gloves with heating blocks. Also cover your face and head. The wind-chill is ferocious. Wearing all that, we were fine.
The sculptures are amazing. Try some of the slides, they're fun and get less crowdy towards the end of the evening. We loved it and took lots of photo's. Do make sure you bring a charger or extra batteries. They drain really fast in the cold weather.
