“We stayed a month...”

Elizabeth and Rechard are both thoughtful, caring hosts, with a great deal of life experience. Breakfasts were unsurpassable in quality, and our conversations invariably left us with food for thought.

We also loved the beach walks, which sometimes extended for hours, and our favourite local restaurant, Colorful Noodles and its wonderful cook.

Building construction out back can get noisy and nutty, but hey, it's China, the scenery changes by the day, and if you want peace and quiet come here to Canada. ;-)

Room Tip: The double room overlooking the road in front was bright and quiet.

Elizabath just loves having visitors and showing off Boao to them.
Her quick tour is really useful, and she will make you very welcome
Lovely familiy feel with breakfast eaten all together.
Only complaint was feeling cold all the time! We went end Jan and it was cloudy and damp all day; no heaters available and worst was no hot water (solar heating) in the morning. We did ask but it did not improve. Left a day early as a result!

Room Tip: Family suite has the shared bathroom off the twin room, not the double

We stayed with Elizabeth and her Husband Rechard for four nights. We had kind of a family reunion with friends and therefore the whole place for ourselves. We could roam freely and feel like home. I have travelled a lot but never encountered a host that is truly happy to welcome guests. Regarding the huge unpersonal tourist-multistorey eyesores that are too common in china, it is a real blessing, that there are places like this.
Elizabeth also knows very well, what western tourists are really interested in apart from the tourist attractions which aim towards chinese tourist groups and therefore helps to experience out of the ordinary-adventures.
I also want to mention the breakfast, which was awesome. I loved the pancakes and the fruits with yoghurt. And the amount is just enough to feed the even hungriest travellers.

Do not think for a second that you will be cheating on your cultural experience by staying at a Western-style B&B while in Bo'ao. Elizabeth is generous with her vast knowledge about the local culture and will give you all the information you need to have just the experience you are looking for, whether that be hanging out at the beach or exploring the surrounding villages and local restaurants.

I would not have had nearly as rich an experience without Elizabeth and Rechard's guidance and company.

My one regret is not having taken one of Rechard's tours. Next time!

We stayed 5 nights with Elizabeth and Rechard in their Inn and enjoyed it very much. There was a warm welcome, lots of background information, stories, humor, breakfast, nice dogs, enthusiasm. We made nice trips to the Li and the Miou people and the harbour of Tan men.
They realy like to share their local knowledge and they invite you easily to join them on a dinner with friends.
Boao itself is a bit of a chinese construction place, but with a nice beach.
Thanks to the introductory tour by Elizabeth we found nice places for a cup of coffee, dinner and drinks. We wish them all the best and hope that lots of their ideas will be realized.

Searching through 'Lonely Planet' we came across Elizabeth's inn and thought we'd give it a try for the one night we'd scheduled in Bo'oa. What a good choice! Not only were the owners (Elizabeth and Rechard) very welcoming, but treated us with such hospitality we'd wished we could have stayed longer. Elizabeth is very knowledgable about the area, it's history and lore, and very eager to share with her guests many great stories that she tells with genuine enthusiasm. Their home is delightful with character and charm and our sleep was sound! We were unexpectedly invited to a lovely seafood dinner in honour of a prominent retired Chinese diplomat and his wife who chose Bo'ao as their winter getaway. Who would have thought we'd have this opportunity? Elizabeth's own great cooking won't disappoint...pancakes, sausage, fruti salad, the works! What an interesting visit we had in Bo'ao, we just skimmed the surface and will definitely go back.

Elizabeth and Rechard (the owners) are wonderful hosts. It is a B & B in the true sense of the word. Drinking margharitas in Elizabeth's kitchen and swapping stories with our hosts and other guests ... bliss. The place is very clean ... such a treat after staying in some less than spic and span Chinese hotels. And the breakfast is amazing. Next time I'll stay for 3 days just so I can really explore Boao and use all of Elizabeth's suggestions. Rechard is a Chinese journalist and will do photography outings for those who would like to learn (I think at a cost). His photography is great so that is on my to do list for next time.
