We didn't stay on the resort (what a shame - it's a very beautiful resort), we just came to have a dinner in Coriander House as friends recommended. The food was fantastic... authentic thai food, service was great, staff was very helpful and friendly. We enjoyed our meal.

If you want a full experience from this resort, come before the sunset. They have such a beautiful beach where you can enjoy a stunning sunset before your dinner. Just a perfect moment...

Dear Naksuwannasmith,

Thank you for this great review of Coriander House and our resort. I am glad to read that you have enjoyed our Thai Cuisine and our Sunset Ritual. Facing to West, our pool bar is one of the best spots on the island to watch the sunset. We are looking forward to welcome you to Banyan Tree on your next visit to Sanya. You will be pleasantly surprised with our villas that truly represent the Tropical Charm of Sanya.

Banyan Tree Sanya is superb - the villas are outstanding and a true luxurious experience, beautiful pool, lovely bedrooms and separate living room - delightful. Service is good and very attentive. Breakfast buffet is lovely, good selection, finely presented (unlike a buffet - nice, small platters presenting food sensitively and appetisingly knowing that it's fresh - good coffee.....very important!).
For a luxurious, romantic getaway, perfect (not what I was on but I could imagine!)

Room Tip: Because the villas are so delightful with their own facilities (pool etc) I'm not sure being close to the beach is a huge advantage other than being able to hear the sea (those close to the beach are obviously more expensive) - convenient to be near the beach for the bar and beach facilities though.

We stayed in this hotel from the 3rd to the 6th of November 2012. It was our first experience in a Banyan tree hotel and we have not been disappointed. We are quite familiar with 5* hotels/resorts in Asia, and especially in China. This hotel is definitely the one we enjoyed the most.

The place is huge, but welcomes a rather limited number of guests (less than 50 villas). The consequence is that there is no rush. Never. No rush at breakfast, no rush for diner, no rush for the main swimming pool (amazing !) and no rush for the 5pm sunset activities. We just felt very fine and relax. We never felt alone but never felt over crowed like it always happens in China.

The rooms are gorgeous (and well prepared for our little baby: the bed - of course - but also the bath tube, the nursing bottle, sterilizer, etc.). The pool is very nice and the garden isolates you from the other villas so that you feel "at home", without neighbors. My only concern is for the bed which is, as usual for this kind of hotel, too soft (at least for me).

The breakfast and the thai restaurant are both excellent.

The main pool is very nice and many games for babies and children are available.

We also enjoyed the quality of the service. Sure, you have to pick up your own towels at the pool - nobody come to give it to you. But so what ? We found all the waiters very very friendly, very present but not too much. I really dislike waiters spending their time around you, violating the intimacy of the family. In the Banyan tree Sanya, it was just perfect: the waiters were very helpful, able to take decision by themselves (like upgrading of the room), very nice with the children, and very very supportive. They really helped us to feel at home !
I may just give one example: I had a health problem over there and the team (up to the managers) provided support and help immediately.

There are still a lot to say. But to summarize: we will go back. For sure !

Had a wonderful stay in the oceanfront pool villa 2107 from 25-28 Oct 2012 except for the typhoon which came on the last 2 days of the stay.
The staff is really friendly and helpful from the reception to the restaurant. They are had smiles all the time and are eager to help you. However, the pool staff could have been friendlier like the rest of the staff although they are not rude or unfriendly. The restaurant waiter could remember I ordered a latte for breakfast the day before and I was very impressed.
The assistant manager Lay Zheng was also very friendly and talked to us to make sure everything is ok and offered good suggestions on where to go for dinner, etc. From the conversation with him, I could tell he is very happy working with Banyan Tree which is treating their staff very well. Another staff that was very friendly is this young man working at the Tianya Haijiao lounge on the 26/10/12. He talked to us and introduced the facilities of the resort to us. And when he saw us going into the library, he actually brought us complimentary iced water on his own initiative. Later he offered to get a buggy for us back to our villa when he saw us leaving. A pity I didn't get his name to compliment him on his excellent service.
The villas are quite big and the jacuzzi is heated. Outdoor bathtub is very cool too. Only downside of the design of the villa is that the living room is not connected directly to the bedrooms and toilet and we must walk through a corridor outdoors to reach it.
The beach is beautiful and clean. I really didn't fancy a lazy river as a swimming pool, just a personal preference. They have first hour free bike and kayak rental which is a nice touch. The sunset ritual every evening is also amazing with free mock tails, beers, soft drinks, juices and some canapés, there is also free 10 mins shoulder massage too.
If you are going to Sanya and would like somewhere exclusive, quiet and beautiful, Banyan Tree Sanya must be it.
