It you ever find yourself i Sanya, this is the place to stay :D Nothing bad to say about this hostel, only that the breakfast is a bit boring. But because of the location you can easily find other places to eat.

Lovley time but chose to come around chinese new year, not great for the wallet!!
Lots of tours available with very friendly english speaking staff to help. Bed soiled before I got in (hence poor review below) but seems like an exception to an otherwise well maintained place.
Would stay again

This was a great place to stay, the room was clean (almost had a view ;)), the staff was really nice and helpful.

They had hats and stuff you could borrow for free, that was a great feature since I travel light. The staff gave really great advice in terms of places to go.

The only thing I didn´t like was the the "shower" has no curtains or anything similar, so when you shower all the bathroom gets wet. But still a decent bathroom.

The location is really good, really close to the beach, fruit stands and souvenir shopping, there are 3 supermarkets at a 5 mins walking distance..

The bus stop is really close to it as well.

I would definetely go back there if I return to Sanya.

Room Tip: The rooms facing the ocean might be quieter since they face the beach and not the street.

The blue sky lies in a small backalley in dadonghai. If you know where to look for it, it is easy to find. The lonely planet description has the problem that it is not clear where to get off the bus. The bus stop is right between the summer mall on one and the linda seaview hotel on the other side of the road. The dadonghai square is one stop too far, but walking back just takes 5minutes. Then just go into the alley right of the summer mall, and look out for the signs.

The hostel provides lockers, though you have to buy a combination lock for 25¥ from them. You could probably also bring your own lock. The combination lock has the advantage that you dont need to bring anything to the beach you need to look out for.

Dadomghai beach is just 5minutes walk away, and several small chinese street restaurants are right beside it which provide decent food, and some pictures n the menus. We did ot try any of the food provided by the hostel itself, but the choice is also very limited.

The twin room we had was clean, had enough space and was not very noisy, although some music playing somewhere in the nearby streets could be heard. A little bit. The room was slightly more expensive than in other hostels in china (160¥).

Staff was helpful and friendly, and the house cat and dog cute :).

The blue sky is not easy to find, but it is very close to the beach. The price is much too high for a room. During peak season you may find your self in a tent at 200 yuan a night. The staff speak English but are not too worried about helping you. Good location is the main point.

Stay here because it is cheap, and because it is close to a more social part of the Sanya beaches. Peter runs the place and has a good head on his shoulders. We arrived for Chinese New Year and they were having a big Do-It-Yourself cooking All-You-Can-Eat BBQ. It made for a very social first night. There are signs around that mention most of the staff is in training to work in other parts of China, and that they all continue to learn English. With that disclaimer it's easy to forgive minor language barriers. We rented a motor scooter for the day easily through the hostel. They had a cute dog named Fefe. It is hard to find the first time. Plus is that they have towels, though a little thin. You set up in a good area to town to shop, swim, and enjoy life.

Please note that I am writing this review in consideration that Blue Sky is a hostel and not a hotel. Therefore one must consider the cheaper price and lower expectations a traveler must have in such an establishment.

Having previously stayed in a horrible hotel in Sanya, I was generally pleased with Blue Sky. The rooms were basic, but comfortable, with a slightly disrupted view of the ocean. I confess that towards the end of our stay, we noticed that the room was getting considerably dirty, and in desperate need of a brush, after numerous days spent on the beach. Otherwise it was cool, despite the warm weather, and generally an average night's sleep could be found.

I must however note that one if often woken early in the morning by the various construction sites around, though at least the other hostel guests were quiet.

The staff were pretty friendly, and largely knowledgeable about the local area, proving very helpful in regard to transportation.

We also rented the bikes, which I admit were a little dated, and in need of updating, or possible replacement.

The puppy was adorable, albeit covered in fleas, so I hope they give him a proper bath soon.

Overall, we had an enjoyable stay, and would certainly consider staying there again in the future. Though I believe similarly priced accommodation is abundant in that area.
