For starters buy your ticket though an agency if you know someone Chinese. You'll pay 160 RMB each at the door to enter the place. This to be honest this is over priced. However agencies can get the price down to 80 RMB and this is well worth the price.

You'll see Li and Miao minority things there with a few ethnic shows during the day. Theres also a nice forrest area worth walking around however be aware its not for disabled or the elderly as it has very steep areas to walk.

The layout of the place was well done and not confusing. Also they had organised the place so you didn't get bored quickly.

Once inside there is small cars that can take you around for no extra cost. In fact there were no extra charges inside.

You can spend a day there without problem if you take it easy... probably you would need at least half a day minimum.

One of the best tourist places in South Hainan.

Pros: Lots of 'different' things to see, grandmas and great-grandmas with tattoos, young girls to show off the "Li people's" wedding ceremony, shady sidewalks to walk around the HUGE sprawling grounds, a total change from downtown Sanya
Cons: Walking - lots of it

I loved this place. I liked the attempt to show off all aspects of the Li people's culture - from food to making clothing to the marriage ceremony.

I felt that while there was an attempt to separate the tourists from their money (it's a vacation spot, and it was done at several places with no pressure) but it was done in an acceptable style.

You've GOT to wear good shoes for this place - as there's lots of walking. With that said, our 6 and 8 year old boys really loved it. They could run around, look at stuff, and then run back. There's animals at one point (snakes, etc) and other things for kids to do... and impossible to get lost.

Definitely get a tour guide - assuming you have someone who can translate to your native tongue from Chinese.

Bring a flash for your camera - as even during a sunny day, in lots of places there is a lot of shade.

Next time I'm back - if I'm not still on crutches - I'm sure I'll go again.

I think it was about RMB 140 adult to get in; fairly standard pricing.

Walk up the hill path and you are rewarded with a excellent view over the hills.

On the path you pass by a tree covered in red ribbons and adorned with a cow skull. Imagine Indiana Jones and the temple of doom.

Was exhausted after it in the heat of the day. I do not sadvise if you have a heart complaint. Plus I thought the sign on leeches was very amusing!!
