Whether you float the Li River on a bamboo raft or a take a fast trip on a motorized boat will depend on the weather, but rain or shine, GO. When we left the pier, it was pouring, but the rain slackened a bit, leaving behind a gray mist. This haloed the mountains and offered breathtaking scenery. In sunshine when the river is not swollen with rain, the reflections on the water are stunning. I can only imagine what the mountains and river look like in the snow. A number of companies offer the cruise. Most pick you up at your hotel and drop you back there at the end of the day. Our tour was in Chinese and English and our guide did a creditable job of explaining everything. If you get to Guilin, don't skip the Li River cruise.
