Average 4 star - decent service but nothing plush

3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Jun 3, 2012
Stayed here 1 night for a last minute trip. I had no reservation and was dropped here at the taxi driver's recommendation. Reception offered me a twin room at RMB$460 per night - service was efficient and porters were there ready to take my bags. Room was big - TV also double as a computer. Free WIFI in room.

Food / room service
First floor - Western restaurants - didn't look very appetizing - breakfast RMB88 per head
Second floor - Chinese restaurant, dinner was good and cheap (dishes starting at RMB$18) but tea is expensive for Chinese standards starting at RMB$35 per pot and there is a charge on plain water. The service is good accommodating.

Cons
Being a big fan of plush towels and high thread count bedding, I was disappointed that this 4 star did not come with slippers or robes. The towels were cheap and thin and the bedding smelled like old smoke even though we had a non-smoking room.
My shower was partially blocked so I had to have the water running very low.

When I checked out I was also charged for items from the mini bar that I did not use - couldn't be bothered arguing over the bill.

At 460RMB per night, I believe there are better hotels to be found in Zhuhai

Stay this hotel during trip to Zhuhai June 2011. Good location, in between walking distance to city. Room is big, convenient and clean. The breakfast itself is very good, with all kinds of food , western and chinese food, many choices. price is ok, valueable stay.

We arrived at the 2000 Years on Saturday 20th March without having made a booking advance and were given a twin room for 438rmb, which I reckon was a pretty good deal. The hotel has an English and Chinese restaurant and a couple of shops, but other than that, there's not much going on in the area. If you walk around 15 minutes to the left of the hotel, then you will find a buzzing district, which has everything you would need: convenience store, supermarket, phone shop, massage parlour, restaurants, etc. Our room was quite comfortable, and the beds relatively soft by China standards. I have since found many more hotels in Zhuhai for a fraction of the room price ~ ranging from 88-138 rmb. I would visit the 2000 Years again, however, if I felt like having a lap of luxury.
