Stayed here for one night (all we could stand) with family in two rooms. The outside of the hotel and lobby is nice, except for the overpowering flowery smell (air freshener?) that we encountered every time we stepped into the lobby. When we walked into our rooms we were shocked because the carpets were disgusting! They had stains every few feet or so and were so dingy looking I was hesitant to even walk on the them with my socks on. The bathrooms were so sparse and ugly (sink, tub and toilet were maroon colored)...the shower head was one of those generic ones that just spray full force at you. The other room that my mother stayed in was exactly the same except that it also had an overpowering smell of smoke, but she didn't want to make a fuss and change rooms so she just sprayed perfume all around.

Breakfast was included with our room which was nice, although I found the breakfast buffet quite scarce. One positive was that they had free wi-fi, although only in the lobby. We were going to book another two nights but decided to opt-out.

It would have been one of the most luxurious hotels in Zhong shan in its days but like a diva who has passed her prime, she is worn and tired. Windows are smudged, carpets are dirty, towels and sheets are not fresh, chipped paint and peeling wall papers not repaired, fittings fall off. Breakfast choices are sparse. Staff are courteous and did their best but few spoke English. Chinese restaurant in the 15th floor is very good. The view from the revolving restaurant up the top can be very good if they clean the window and remove the posters which obstruct half the view. The worse part about the hotel isn't the hotel but the guests. It is full of out of towners from other parts of the same country, a significant percentage of whom are (presumably) uneducated and (predictably) loud and inconsiderate. Few non English speaking guests stay here. The price is reasonable, the location is good. You get what you pay for. If you are the type who is happy to stay in a noisy youth hostel, then this is a much better choice. If you expect tranquility and a touch of class, go somewhere else.

Checked in late at night. Was difficult to find ant staff that could speak english. Fortunately we had a Chinese freind help us with check in. Room was very spacious and recently renovated.Separate bath and shower. Breakfast was included. Huge variety of chinese and western dishes. The restaurant where breakfast was served was in its heyday a revolving restaurant on the top floor but its revolving days were over. Great views and close to shopping. (Walking Street)
Great value for money hotel.

Our extended family had just finished a tour to some of the major tourist areas of China such a the Great Wall, Huangshan, Li River, Shanghai, Terracotta Warriors and Hong Kong among others. We arrived after the Chinese 60th anniversary, rather tired and weary and were delighted by the helpfulness of the staff that we came in contact with. We didn't have any language problems. When we got to one of our rooms the beds had been created to make a large double bed, within a matter of minutes a young lady arrived and separated the beds to create 2 singles. This was the type of service we were pleased to have during our stay. Just outside the front door was a small supermarket, so that we could buy extra coffee, milk etc. Off to the side was a small garden area, with a lovely pool filled goldfish, this area was a boon to the smokers among us. Then just a short stroll on the walk bridge, across the river was a mall and further still was the city which was so convenient. One night we went across the river from our hotel and sat among the locals at an outside eatery. The food and the beer was both cheap and lovely, as was the food and service at the revolving restaurant on top of the hotel. It cost the five of us $790.00NZD for 3 nights including smorgasbord breakfasts. We all found that this hotel was far superior to a lot of the hotels we had used on our tour and like I said it was excellent on all levels and we would all definitely use it again.

This is a great hotel right in the centre of bustling Zhongshan.
Excellent place to base yourself and majority of the staff all speak english.

Ensure you stay in the 4 star side of the hotel. There is a 3 star section and this is very old and rooms are not ventilated.
The suites are very well decorated, plush and immaculate, with all rooms having a computer and internet.

Staff are extremely friendly too.
The only hotel our family stays at in Zhongshan!
