I arrived at night time and was picked up by the hotel's shuttle bus (3min to the hotel).

The room was clean but there were quite some mosquitos. Free internet in the room. Friendly reception staff, which speaks English. Good deal considering the price, but don't expect too much.

Flew into Shenzhen airport around 11pm and did not wan to hassle with a HK border crossing that late at night with 2 kids, so booked this hotel mostly for the price and the free airport shuttle. I guess for a $30 dollar room it was not bad. Decent size, wallpaper was peeling, generally worn and slightly dirty. The worst part for me was the smell of smoke. I had asked for a non-smoking room, but i don't think they have them, because the room smelled horrible (at least for my tastes).
The second complaint is that it was fairly noisy outside our window. We were on the third floor and could here people screaming (literally, screaming!) throughout the night and early morning. Perhaps it was just a bad night, but when i peeked out the window it looked like there might be trucking or shipping near by and my impression is that the noise might be more of a permanent feature. In the end it was not deafening and I fell asleep without too much of a problem, but probably not the best place for light sleepers.
On the positive side, the free airport shuttle worked out fine; we had to call the hotel when we exited the terminal but they were there within 5 minutes. The in-room broadband worked without a problem and the staff was pleasant and helpful. Again, fine if you are just looking for a place to lay your head before heading off somewhere else the next day, but definitely not a place I wanted to stay any longer than I needed to.

This is a basic Chinese hotel used by cabin crew and one-night stopover tourists. It's reasonably priced considering where it is, and the free shuttle bus is very convenient. It picks up/drops off from the central reservation outside entrance #3 (upstairs) of the A building - it's just a matter of waiting and looking out for the small white bus. Shenzhen airport is an elongated group of terminals with international flights going from the new building downstairs to the right of building A as you look at it. The shuttle will come to get you there if you phone the hotel and can make yourself understood. It's not somewhere you should expect good English speakers (generally the case throughout China - here, they have even omitted the English-speaking TV channel). My hotel voucher gave me the wrong telephone number - the correct one is [-]. Getting up to the pick-up point on the departures level is a hassle with luggage as there are no lifts. The hotel itself has only one small lift and this can be bedlam in the morning if you're not first in at either top or bottom. As with most Chinese hotels expect to pay a deposit even if you've already paid in full (100RMB returned on check-out). Rooms are rather old-fashioned and a little cramped but reasonably clean. Linen was fresh and twin beds firm but comfy. Basic amenities (tea, no coffee) provided with toiletries/paper slippers. Surrounding area has literally dozens of restaurants/eateries - go out round the back street and explore - also loads of shops/mini-marts as well as one or two western-style fast food places - there's a large wet market as well. In short, a stone's throw from a large community of locals who are well-served. Pavements, roads and street-lighting aren't up to western standards so watch your step. My room faced the back and was reasonably quiet. For a one-nighter, it's fine.

I stayed at the Vienna Hotel during early November 2008. Booked in advance sight unseen, I arrived at the Vienna Hotel not with high expectations but with an understanding that the hotel offered both English speaking staff and a restaurant, and that it was located close to the Shenzhen Airport. Two out of three is not bad, but I am writing this review so that other English speaking travelers, in need of a good hotel base from which to travel in Shenzhen for business, will keep looking past this hotel.

Although the website claims English speaking staff, sadly, this is not true. Staff at the hotel could not provide help with directions, could not understand basic questions about the restaurant menu, and getting their help in calling a taxi took about 30 minutes, during which, they called an unofficial taxi--without taxi sign, light or driver identification card--nothing distinguished it from being someone's personal car (I refused it.). Signs posted throughout the hotel are also only in Chinese--a sign posted at the elevator door was only in Chinese, so I decided it was best to take the stairs, since no one could explain what it said. Also, those considering staying here should be warned that the hotel shares its parking lot with a logistics company that, while quiet during the day, comes alive with activity at night. If you are as unlucky as I to have a room facing this parking lot, you will hear voices, the slamming of truck doors and various other noises well into the wee hours. The closed windows offered no relief from these sounds, nor did earphones, which were necessary for sleep during every night of my stay--and I'm no light sleeper. Also, upon my departure, it appeared that the hotel was preparing to install new flooring, as evidenced by dozens of stacks of new flooring in the lobby and on my floor.

Also, the area around the hotel is not suitable for walking or finding restaurants, and while in reality it may be safe, with its unpaved streets and lack of identifiable storefronts, it does not appear so.

While the shower and room amenities were OK (decent shower, hot pot for tea), the carpet in the room was terribly stained, and other areas were not as clean looking as one may want. The hotel restaurant is located on the second floor, but again, ordering is difficult and limited to picking between pictures on the menu. The hotel store is also very limited in what it offers (and looks like it needs a good dusting), although you can purchase a decent variety of beverages.

The best feature of this hotel is the free hotel shuttle to and from the airport, which, as it turns out is essential, as many taxi drivers will either refuse the short distance to the hotel (it is basically across the highway from the airport), or try to charge you 100 RMB for the fare. The airport is the closest major form of transportation (not counting buses, as these are hard to navigate for non-native speakers), as it is not close to any metro stops.

Long story short, I could not leave this hotel soon enough.

My boyfriend and I stayed at this hotel for one night due to the fact that we had an early flight the next morning. We upgraded to the deluxe suite (price was 320 RMB) just to ensure that the room we got wasn't too sketchy. The room had a sitting area, a bedroom, and of course a washroom. The first thing that hit me when I entered the room was some type of electrical burning smell, but it was faint - I think it was coming from the air conditioner. My boyfriend didn't notice it however so maybe I was being overly sensitive so we did nothing about it.

The room was well appointed only very slightly grimy in the washroom but I am quite picky when it comes to cleanliness and I survived so it can't have been too bad. The best thing is that they give you rubber slippers for the bathroom and also bedroom slippers so you never have to be barefoot in the room.

One great thing about this hotel is the airport shuttle - it's fast convenient and free.

The worse thing about this room was the bed. It was hard as a rock. In fact, my boyfriend and I were wondering if they mistakenly put two base boards on top of each other and covered it with a matress pad? I had a very tough night's sleep because of it but the fact that they speak very little English at this hotel made me not feel like complaining, also we were just staying there as a stop over.

All in all, the price we payed for this hotel was decent so I would give it a three out of five. The only recommendation I would make to people who will be choosing this hotel is to immediately go sit on the bed before you unpack and if it is too uncomfortable it's probably worth changing rooms - nobody else seemed to complain about the beds on this website so I can only assume they do have comfortable beds.
