Just back from a quick holiday to Shenzhen, wow what an insane place , so huge you cannot imagine , so we stayed at the Intercontinental in OCT , a good 20 mins by metro from what I would consider downtown SHenzhen .
fIrst impressions , wow what a great looking building , wonderful but surreal Spanish theme .
The room was clean large and very comfortable with every possible little extra , great hot tub in bathroom too .
We ate in three of he restaurants and whilst not cheap the food was of a god standard with a large choice. Room service too was quick efficient and again a large choice .
The staff were all courteous and friendly and very helpful.
The highlight tho was the Galleon bar basically a full size replica of a wooden sailing ship which is a bar inside with live music THe band were called the Providers and all from the UK ! They were amazingly talented young people and a refreshing change to the DJ who played far to loud and had only a repertoire of what seemed like 5 songs ,the band made my stay here so enjoyable , the interaction with the crowd was really good fun, the range of music was immense from old standards to current pop and rock and pretty much everything in between ,the beer here is brewed on site and is first rate , shame the dark beer wasn't available tho .
In summary a great place to stay with 1st class amenities and entertainment far better than any I have seen in my extensive travels .go see the Providers !!!
