For visitors who are only staying for a night or 2, this hotel will serve its purpose. It is located in a pretty fine location (I got to agree with some that there is really nothing much to do and eat around the hotel but metro station is just right in front of the hotel and few stops away from major shopping malls and food districts) and the room is spacious enough for two. Most of the hotel chambermaids are relatively friendly and helpful.

Other than the abovementioned good points of the hotel, I can't really think of any other compliments for this over-rated hotel.
~ Breakfast is overpriced and they serve almost the same food daily. The cereals taste pretty stale.
~ It is about time to upgrade the elevator... when i say slow, i meant really slow.. nevertheless, the elevators are famous for bypassing your floor. You got to be patient or you may want to leave your room slightly earlier if you have an important appointment to attend to
~ Front desk service is mediocre... they have improved their service (in terms of politeness towards guests) but still slow when it comes to processing.
~ In-room dining food variety is limited and there was once, they even missed my order
~ Pretty dim rooms and carpets definitely need shampoo-ing more often

Stayed one night at this hotel for business trip.
Reception service is pretty fast and professional.
Room overall is ok but very strong smell when I first went in. Probably come from toilet shower curtain and the carpet. They really need to have better hygiene.
Breakfast is great. Will consider to come back again.

This is more a chinese hotel than a Accor Group French style hotel.
I stayed on the executive floor and rooms were fine.
But the location is poor (close to metro but there is really nothing around the hotel).
Service is poor.
Restaurants close very ealry.
Swimming pool is not confortable and was packed.
The exeuctive lounge is nice but nothing is complimentary.
Executive breakfast is OK

The hotel is fine, the rooms are great and Accor hotel... without accor benefits for platinum membersclean, the hotel is just besides the subway, the breakfast is pretty good, the personnel is apparently pretty nice until you need something. They have strict rules and it is impossible to have any service that is not explicitly included and would be offered for free (and with a smile) in other hotel chains.
As a platinum A-Club member, I have been travelling in many hotels in different countries, and the Grand Mercure Ginza Shenzhen is simply the less welcoming one regarding my status. I had to negociate very hard to get an upgrade, and have been told that this was not normal for the hotel, as they are part of A-Club for giving points, but they don't do the upgrades or any other A-Club status-based benefits.
It has then been a pain to enter the lounge club, and once there, it was impossible to get free drinks, even water. I didn't try to get the breakfast as I had a free breakfast included downstairs, but I'm pretty sure that I would have been refused.
When you are a platinum member, you are choosing hotels from the same chain in order to receive the rewards of your fidelity and be happy to get the benefits for your friends/girlfriend if you are travelling with her. It is not the case there, and the service makes you feel like a thief whereas you try to get what you are supposed to be given with a smile.
Here are little details that changed what could have been a pretty great stay into a medium-low value stay.

I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

I stayed here on a business trip. My room was pretty small, and the bathroom had no separate shower cubicle and an old bathtub that was peeling. The lighting was also too dark and towels old and worn. On the plus side, I found the beds firm but comfortable and the sheets and pillow cases of high quality. The buffet breakfast was also more than adequate. The location is good for the metro and nearby office buildings but I wouldn't recommend this for a family holiday.

Room Tip: I stayed in room 1313 which had only half a window and which looked directly at the room on the othe...
