i stayed here for two weeks in January 2010. the hotel smells faintly of rotting fruit and cooking oil. there was a periodic food sewage odor that seemed to originate from the bathroom sink. my shower door leaked water all over the bathroom floor when i used the shower, the bedroom carpet was very stained, and the furniture looked unclean. i could not turn the air conditioning off so my room was about 60 degrees F. we asked the concierge and the health club manager if they would consider opening the health club a little earlier, since about 15 of us wanted to work out before work (it opens at 6:30am) and several conversations later (most employees do NOT speak english), we were told they could open early, at 6:25am. in another conversation, i asked the concierge where i could buy a postcard stamp for the U.S. and he said he didnt know but for $300RMB (about $40USD) he would mail the postcard for me. uh huh. lastly, the restaurant on the first floor, while offering some mildly "western fare", also has moldy bread all along the wall (its supposed to be decor, but it's real bread and its really moldy). note that water is not potable in this hotel. i would not stay here again if given the choice.

We stayed in the Shenzen winter with collegues.
Rooms are nice, furnitures are good.

Most of us had some problems of the air-conditions: in my room it was too cold, so I turned it off. Which made the room dump and smelled not so great after that. Other collegues could not turn it off, so they were freezing (impossible to communicate with the technical stuff).

Bathroom is very nice, rooms are well equipped with iron and all. Internet is slow.

Breakfast choice is good, but the area to serve is small, so in the mornings it can be a bit over-crowded.

Stuff are nice and smiling, but not on the top when have an extra request, a bit difficult to communicate with them.

The bar on the roof is decorated with a messy and unpleasant taste - we had a beer once there, there was a really bad kareoke-style 2 man band playing - thankfully they stopped when we sat down.

Overall it was okay, about a 4 star hotel.

I booked this hotel through a Chinese travel web site: ctrip.com on June 12, 2007. The hotel boasts itself as a five-star on the web site and I expected to stay in a hotel like that. However, my one night stay did not quite match my expectation.

My experience was not totally negative. The location of the hotel is good. It is at the intersection of two major roads that links the airport and downtown. The exterior and the first expression as one walks into the hotel was decent.

The hotel has a lot of problems. First of all, the air condition was functioning properly or the temperature was intentionally kept too high. That made the inside of the hotel stuffy, humid and unpleasant. The guest room was not only small, but the air condition was shut off when it was not occupied. So, when I first walked into the room, it reminded me of a sleezy hotel that I would never want to stay again in my life. On the desk, the small notepad usually for guests had only 2 pages. The bathroom did not have enough towels even for one person. The lights are very dim and not well positioned. Even though frugality is viewed as a virtue in China, this was more than thrifty and it was almost an insult to its guests.

The next morning, it was a mess in the breakfast area. After I was taken to a seat, I walked over to the food stand to get some food. When I went back to the table, someone else was sharing the table with me. Fine. I greeted the lovely lady and went on chewing my food. Then, I stood up to get some fruit and when I went back to the table, the entire table was taken by another group of people! I have been getting used to people's rude behaviors in China, but that was still very annoying.

Another thing not so important to most customers: in the lobby, two Boeing 747 airplane models were on display. One is a replica of Shenzhen Airlines’ subsidiary Jade Cargo Airlines. That was fine, but the other one was painted as if it was a replica of a Shenzhen Airlines aircraft. That was a lie. Shenzhen Airlines does not have any B747 aircraft in its fleet and won't have one in the near future.
