“Best hotel in Shenzhen hands dow”
Reviewed April 14, 2013

The brand new St. Regis is Shenzhen is easily the top hotel in Shenzhen. I have stayed at all the others (Westin, Grand Hyatt, IC, Ritz) and the St. Regis tops them all. Perched at the top of the KK100, it has the best views in the city. The best part however, is the room itself. The entire room is controlled by a iPad provided by the hotel. You can open the blinds, turn on the lights, and select a movie (one of the only movie selections in a Chinese hotel I have seen) from the comfort of your bed with your iPad. The rest of the room, from the comfort of the bed to the big shower it 5 star. Don't miss the Italian restaurant at the top of the hotel for even better views.

Had a two day biz trip to Shenzhen recently and was lucky to get put up in the St Regis which is the one at the top of the mega tall tower. I've stayed at Park Hyatt Shanghai and tbh I'm not a huge fan of the high hotels. St Regis had more of a welcoming, funky vibe than PH Shanghai. The design/decor of this hotel is absolutely stunning. I remember walking into the restaurant and seeing those astounding white scultpure chairs with the big faces on the back. Unexpected! Fun! Usually I associated St regis is low key elegance, this one really blew me away with the design. And of course the views. You command the entire city and much of the New territories (exaggerating a bit). If you want to feel like the commander on high, this is the place. Plus it's close to a big new shopping center--KK which has reasonably priced restaurants and a grocery store in it--extremely convenient.

They service overall was as good as you expect at a St Regis. Everyone remembers your name and goes out of their way to make everything perfect. And they'll back off if you signal that you're not in the mood.

There were a couple small flaws--one to do with the free pressing service. I was told on check in that I would get three pieces pressed free. The next day I asked to take them up on it, but they told me that it was only valid the first day you arrive. The others involved them gym. The water in showers was not hot and the steam rooms were not turned on.

These were minor points though. I got great advice from the concierge on where to go in the city (went to OCT Loft art area) and how to get around. The breakfast was absolutely outstanding and the whole trip went very well.

Room Tip: you can't go wrong with any of them, no construction around at all

Stayed here for 3 nights end of Feb beginning of March as i was in HKG and went over the border to see an old friend. firstly this is a stunning, 'statement' piece of architecture, both inside and out. I've stayed in 5* places all over the world and visually this is right up there with the best. Rooms are well appointed with every type of convenience gadget, aircon is virtually silent (hurray!), plenty of room, and the views are extraordinary. Its definitely an attraction for locals as well, bars and restaurants etc and given the prices its somewhere special to go. The only downsides I had was the 'lost in translation' moments which was surprising given its supposed to be an international hotel, the chinese staff basically didnt speak any English that was useful and you had to find some hired in westerners. Service is slow! Coffee and cake in the afternoon meant a coffee followed by cake 28 minutes later - need to sort that out guys.
The lifts can get a little tiresome as you have to swap to get to your room once you've arrived in reception from ground level to the 95th flloor, strangely you then go down floors to get to rooms.

Among the all the St Regis I have ever stayed , this one is the least one to deserve the title of St Regis.

This hotel is quite new and has the cutting edge facilities which might be the only upside for this hotel.

The staff is lack of training and seems not care about the guest at all.I was not feeling very well while I stayed there. When I asked them to help me to buy some medince, they seemed not very interested in hearing what I was feeling but always remind me of paying the extra money. Compared to my similar experience with St Regis Beijing, it was really poor.

Also some guys were smoking at the bar in the non smoking area but seemed no one stop it.

Really disappointed, it would be my 1st time and also the last time to stay in St Regis as I am a St Regis lover.

Rooms, Service, View, well everything, just the staff must be speak english, some of them in F&B really really poor.
Latest technology, you need to learn how is working all in the room, but nice fun
Price F&B overprice

Image if you bought a brand new Macbook Pro, and it ran the original 1984 MAC OS Desktop.
Pun intended. It's a state of the art hotel with a great view from the 95th floor lobby. There's an ipad to control all of the electronics in the room and it’s ergonomically fit. PRESS Spa on the room supplied Ipad and the widow from your room to the bathroom mists, mood lighting and music ensues. They are still working on their service and try very hard. This hotel is of course in China - to expect the norm. Don't forget to add the daily breakfast buffet onto your bill. You should be able to negotiate this add for about $20 / day. As in all hotels in china, you can ask for more for less and they might. It's still worth $30 as it will get your day started right (before everything outside of the hotel will be cooked in pig fat)! Recommend; especially for those on Business and need a western home in this Chinese business hub.
