“Excellent Service”
Reviewed May 23, 2013

The service here is impeccable. The cooking stations and dessert buffet were marvelous. We are so thrilled to find a restaurant like this in Shenzhen, only thought it was possible in HK. Can't wait to go back!

“Great buffet in Shenzhen.”
Reviewed April 7, 2013

This restaurant offers a big variety of food, even if we went their pretty late after 9pm, they still had a wide range of food. Would recommend to try the Chinese food, avoid the pizzas and most of the western food. They have no foie gras and lobsters.

“Buffet style in the Ritz Carlton CBD”
Reviewed March 29, 2013

You are quickly seated and can then choose from a dazzling array of buffet items including several made to order cooking stations. My breakfast scrambled eggs were cooked to my exact specification. I paid 188RMB for breakfast and 368RMB for dinner with 15% taxes extra. Everything I might have wanted was there on each occasion.

“It Doesn't Get Much Better Than This!”
Reviewed March 24, 2013

You'd think Shenzhen would be a little raw, kind of a nouveau riche industrial hardscrapple of a place where you get uneven food quality and inconsistent service. With that in mind, we were amazed at the Ritz's Sunday brunch buffet for the quality of the food and the flawless service. A buffet is inherently hard to get right and if you just set up a row a chafing dishes, you are going to be no better than below average. The Ritz, by contrast, minimizes the chafing dishes and instead emphasizes custom preparation where it is needed such as steak, egg station, sashimi, oysters, even a pasta/risotto station.

They also feature a system of spontaneous table side fresh surprises such as a movable feast of italian prosciutto, parma ham and other cured meats or a cute basket of bao zi (chinese steamed breads) brought around by the chefs. There's a bread and cheese station as well as Indian and Malaysian offerings and of course, the perfunctory carving station. All done very well.

Tables are well attended and, unlike many Western establishments in China, the staff are efficient yet not in your face, maintaining a deft and subtle removal style. You could easily imagine that you are in a Ritz in London or San Francisco. These guys know how to train their staff.

Chef Francesco, from Sardinia, made us a pizza that took me back to my times walking the streets of Florence and Sienna where you have those shops with trays of various flatbreads with an array of different toppings.

There were a few things we did not care for. A chocolate cake dessert that had a strangely strong flavor of cumin and the green salad area could use more of a selection.

Those few negatives would not even be a speed bump in my deciding to go back again. In fact, we are putting together a group of Hong Kongers to go again.
