Just had my first stay here after spending previous business trips to Shenzhen at the Grand Mercure just down the road. It is a bit more expensive and definitely at the top end of the $$$ scale but compared to say Hong Kong or normal Western cities, its still on teh cheap side. But it is 5 star and is regarded to be the best in Shenzhen and i would agree. Executiver floor is excellent especially if you need to have meetings, they have a Board Room which we used for no charge for 2 hours as my boss stayed on the Executive Floor. Room was same as other floors but you get the lounge.
Breakfast was excellent at Cafe Chinois. We also dined there in the evening and enjoyed the buffet for 268 RMB including a glass of wine. Buffet was extensive with loads of seafood, grilled meats, Japanese, desserts, etc. The Bar just off the lobby is also good and offers snacks.
The gym here is great and is open 24 hours in case you suffer jetlag. There is a steam sauna and large spa in the Male change rooms. Also an outdoor swimming but wasnt heated.
The rooms are very tastefully decorated and very much to my liking - nice desk, lots of wood panelling, iron in cupboard, wifi of course which was free, good tv and dvd player, ipod dock. The bathroom area was large with a big wet area containing a shower and free standing bath right next to the window (curtain for privacy). The only weird thing about the room was a very large pillar right at the window which basically blocked any view from the bedroom but the view isnt great anyway and if you want it, then take a bath. Beds were very comfortable and soft compared with other hotels i have slept in throughout China.
The hotel is very well located and seemed easy to access for taxi's. We never had to wait very long for a taxi. Right behind the hotel is a Starbucks and McDonalds. It is a short 10 minute walk to the metro train station.
I stayed for a few nights on two separate occasions within a week and both visits were great. Staff were friendly. Both times wse checked in early morning but my room was not ready so had to store luggage which was taken to room when ready.
This will be my preferred hotel in Shenzhen from now on.
