I stayed in this Hotel as part of a business function in one of the conference rooms which was blocked from being warned as the excuse was the hotel could not receive enough energy from its provider at this time of year . Therefore the temperature in the function room as recoded by me using an app on my phone was around 10 degrees . The reception area was also 11 degrees and the receptionist was shivering whilst explaining the problem . Due to this I fell ill that night from a cold shiver being in the function room .

The rooms were good a bit dusty , shower head was broken so spewed water sideways .

Bed was hard like a rock but linen was really good .

The breakfast was great , fruit and toast western style .

The conference organiser booked this hotel and thus it wasn't my choice. It's OK but don't know how to compare it with other hotels in Lanzhou.

It's near the railway station and was told by taxi drivers that it's within the main areas of the city. But make sure where your main activities will take place as the city itself is quite spread out.

Room itself is quite good: spacious and bathroom in good condition. Breakfast is so so and this is quite typical of non-western chain hotels.

On the plus side, the coach to the airport is just 3 minutes' walk and easy to find. Lanzhou's airport is far out and the coach ride is more than an hour. It is serviced by train but won't save a lot of time. And getting a taxi to the airport is very expensive.

Lanzhou University is nearby and that means it's easy to find a place to eat. Indeed, a quite famous noodle shop is nearby and you can't go to this city without trying it's noodle.

If you need coffee, there is a Starbucks about 1 km away. It's part of a department store near the big square in the city. I walked over and it's manageable.

You can't walk to the bank of Yellow River. Will need a taxi to get around.

I stayed two nights at the Zugong Building Hotel. Overall it was a nice hotel. The rooms were clean and the beds are not rock hard. I stayed on the 15th floor.

We stayed at this hotel because the Crowne Plaza, the only western hotel brand in Lanzhou, was completely booked.

The bathroom had a separate shower and bathtub that were both very clean.

The room has a television and a computer sitting on the work table which is a bit inconvenient if you plan to do work.

The carpets were a bit run down and the staff doesn't clean under the bed or furniture. But if you're familiar with Chinese hotels this is the norm. The widows outside looked like they hadn't been cleaned in a year.

The staff does not speak English so if you don't have a translator or guide it might be difficult to check in or get anything from the staff.

The breakfast had a wide variety of Chinese food and was quite tasty. The tea was very good but I would avoid the coffee. Luckily here is a Starbucks only 1 km away if you need a coffee fix.

There is also a Wanda Shopping center about 3 KM away which has restaurants and lots of stores.

I rated four stars because for a Chinese hotel it is a good one. As long as you have the ability to translate you shouldn't have an issue with the hotel.

The hotel is centrally located and good for business travelers. The lobby's ambiance is refreshing. The room is spacious and well appointed. The breakfast buffet is supposed to start at 7:00am but always not quite ready yet until around 7:15 am. The buffet is good with wide selection of mostly Chinese food.
The hotel should hire a reliable English speaking staff. Very frustrating if you cannot communicate.

If you don't speak mandarin or have a mandarin support person, you'll struggle here. A 1 night stay in a spacious very nice room & bathroom facility. The beds are fresh, clean & standard Chinese hard (a good night sleep had here) along with those 2nd pillows that for some reason have rice or straw inside - 1st pillow is okay. The floors like almost every Chinese Hotel I've stayed in are dirty, never shampooed & not vacuumed properly - residue from last guests evident. Everything in the room worked & the WiFi was good, plus there's a cable if you need better than WiFi performance. There's a little fridge that's stocked, 2 bottles complementary water & a safe that functions correctly. If your a coffee lover, you'll be a little unhappy - they only have 3in1 coffee sachets with some sort of milk powder & sugar already blended together even the Western Breakfast cannot & won't provide a black coffee. They'd never do this to the tea! The breakfast foods were excellent, great range, fresh & tasty - pity the coffee reduced the standard. We'd probably try our luck at another hotel if we return to Lanzhou.
