My husband and I visited the Szechuan style restaurant following a recommendation from the hotel we were staying at. A few minutes after receiving our food, we saw a large rat running around a nearby table. We were horrified and immediately got up to leave. We paid the bill despite our dinner being almost untouched and expressed our concern to the restaurant staff who were very unhelpful and seemed unbothered by what had occurred. We proceeded to the reception to make a complaint and were told a manager was coming. After waiting over half and hour the staff informed us that there was actually no manager on duty. I insisted on speaking with someone about having our bill of 198 CNY refunded. The same staff member from the restaurant greeted us at reception and was adamant that she would not offer us a refund. I understand that these things happen and that a rat could end up in any restaurant, but the lack of customer service from a venue that supposedly caters to Xiamen's elite was completely unacceptable. The whole experience ruined our evening and left us questioning the hygiene standards of the venue.
