“Just another shopping street, but no cars.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 5, 2013

Zhongshan road is the premier shopping street of Xiamen. It contains many shops some western brands and some Chinese. It is pedestrianized and also smoke free, but it lacks character as the majority of the historical looking buildings are being replaced by modern ones. Good place to buy gifts and just have a wander but nothing to write home about.

“A great place for "people watching"”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 5, 2013

Xiamen is a wonderful and comfortable city, but the one thing I notice is that there is not enough to do. However, taking a walk on Zhongshan Road is never boring!! I recommend that if it's a nice day, you should take a nice walk on this "pedestrian only" shopping street and see the many local flavors of Xiamen's food and people!

“a bit crazy, but good shopping”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 23, 2013

Rows of shops, lots of variety.

Across from Gulangyu Island, very touristy, but deals can be found.

Of course you can find the knock off's to, but the bigger Chinese brands are a good value, and generally good quality.

If you are looking for deals on Nike, or other American brands, you wont find them. This stuff costs less at home!

“Alot of repeatation”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 14, 2013

You will see ppl selling the same thing over and over. Nothing much to buy...Good to know that car can't enter, so you can walk in the middle of the road without watching for traffic, but beware of thief while shopping

“GRILLED SQUID + STARFRUIT JUICE”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 21, 2013

The title pretty much says everything... there's a LOOOT of vendors selling all kinds of local eats on the street, and lots of shops selling all kinds of knick-knacks, but I would recommend keeping to the grilled squid and fresh fruit juices.

Which vendors? Just head for those with hoards of people snatching up RMB10 for 3 squid-on-sticks, make sure they're BBQed with lots of herb/sauce on a grill and not pan-fried which soaks up all the oil.

Nom nom nomz...
