Everything we'd read about this place is true & more! We originally booked just 1 night stay as a stopover before taking a flight north, 2 weeks into our 6 week trip in Patagonia. Pamela sounded so wonderful in her e-mails that we immediately increased our stay to 2 nights & wish it had been longer. All the family are super, speak excellent English, are helpful, charming and super attentive, fabulous home cooking was enjoyed on both nights we couldn't have asked for better. It was pretty cold during our stay but the wood-burner in our cabin made it super cosy, we banked it up and it stayed warm all night. They provide airport transfers at no extra cost, and even ran us into Punta Arenas when we asked them to book a taxi!!
Set in their own private woodland, an ideal place to wind down between hiking, trekking or sightseeing, we cannot recommend this place too highly for travellers wanting relaxed charm and good home comforts, it's just a pity it's so far away from our home in Crete or we'd be there every weekend!

Room Tip: All cabins are excellent and offer the same amenities.

눇We loved everything about our stay at La Casa Escondido!!! The owners were super friendly and super helpful. Pamela picked us up at the airport when we arrived and drove us to the property. (You can tell that she is the engine that makes this operation work so smoothly). When we drove onto the property we found a beautiful oasis in the middle of a forest of birch trees!! Stunning and the perfect place to just chill for a few days. Pamela's husband Luis greeted us upon our arrival to La Casa. He is quite the conversationalist and seems to truly enjoy getting to know his guests. He walked us around the property and told us so many great stories. PLEASE NOTE that he built the cabins AND the furniture himself...amazing work!! He is also an incredible cook....so take advantage of the dinner he will cook for you (at a VERY AFFORDABLE PRICE)....he has a cabin (think mancave) where he grills either a juicy, cooked to request, steak and sausage OR Chilean seabass. Makes my mouth water just thinking about how good it was. AND the wine they have is perfect for sitting by the woodburning stove in the lodge area. Breakfast is served daily....fresh fruit, toast, eggs, fresh orange juice and coffee....nice way to start the day.
The room we had was also a haven in the woods....a large window over the bed gave us a beautiful view of the birch trees. And I must say that the bed was THE MOST COMFORTABLE bed I slept in during our 3 week stay in Chile. La Casa also has a quaint sauna on the property (also built by Luis). I took advantage of this after walking the "W" in Torres del Paine. It is a small log cabin heated by a woodburning stove...a small clay pot filled with water sits on the bench and you just keep pouring water over the coals to keep the steam going! THEN...you step outside to the cold water shower for a few minutes....returning to the sauna afterwards. It was truly a taste of peaceful solitude!
And last but not least is Mauricio (Pam's brother) and their mother. Such sweethearts!! Mauricio was always smiling and always there to help you out. He even took us into town one morning so that we could get our clothes washed and then to 2 different stores to buy some needed supplies. THANK YOU!!!
I highly recommend La Casa for a unique experience.....
(Please note that it is called The Hidden House for a reason....it is about 10 minutes out of town and some taxi drivers do not even know that it is there. However, we had no difficutly guiding them to the property. . So DON"T let this stop you from staying there)

I stayed here for 2 nights in February and it was just perfect. The hosts are a lovely family who all speak english very well. Do not be put off by the location not being in the town center. I was picked up at the airport and driven to town when I wanted to go and given a cell phone to call when I wanted to be picked up. The airport is closer to Puerto Natales than the town is, so that means 30 min less on the bus if you are headed there. The optional dinner was well worth the $20. You can never find a meal like that for $20 in the US. After being in town, I spent time in front of the wood burning stove, relaxing and working on my photos and reading a book. Cozy and comfortable are accurate to describe the bedroom as well as the living room. This was one of my favorite places in 5 weeks of traveling around Chile and Argentina. By all means, stay here!

Our group of 11 stayed just one night at this lovely place. Pamela and her family were most helpful during the booking process (our numbers kept changing). They were very accommodating of our late bus arrival, cooking us a delicious dinner at 10pm! Both rooms in main house and one cabin were very comfortable. We regret not having more time to enjoy the surrounds and hospitality.

This little gem in the woods was able to accommodate 11 of us, including pick up/drop off service to the airport. The hosts were also able to provide dinner for us, about 10.30pm, after our long day of travel to get to Punta Arenas. Our group stayed in the main house, as well as a cabin. Very comfortable, with interesting and quirky furniture. Unfortunately, water to the main house was lost due to a pump issue, but the owners worked through the night to ensure we would be able to have hot showers. Beautiful breakfast as well. Just sorry we didn't stay longer.

Room Tip: Wherever you are, you'll have a nice, quiet sleep.
