One of the nicest places I have ever stayed - the hosts were so friendly and helpful and made me feel completely at home. The bbq dinner was delicious, the house is beautiful in a peaceful wooded setting, and I slept very well in the cosy rooms.
Thankyou so much for such a lovely stay and I really hope to have the opportunity to come back one day.

This place is special. Luis, Pamela, Mauricio, and Pamela's mother go out of their way to make you comfortable and well fed. It was wonderful to have charming Luis pick us up at Punta Arenas airport right on time after a long flight and fix us a wonderful barbecue dinner. We were also greeted by their adorable puppy, Hugo. Breakfasts (an omelette with toast, juice, and coffee) were good, and they drive you to and from the airport at no extra cost. You can use their laptop, which was a real treat since I almost never had the internet working in our hotels in Torres del Paine. The buildings and furniture that Luis built are just lovely, and it's fun to look out of your room to see the pretty trees swaying in the wind (Punta Arenas was always windy when we were there). I highly recommend this place.

We cannot recommend La Casa Escondida highly enough. Our hosts were warm and welcoming and made us feel at home immediately. We thoroughly enjoyed our conversations with Pamela, Luis, Mauricio and Alita as we sat comfortably by the wood stove and looked out at bunnies and owls that shared their lovely forest grove. They answered our endless questions giving not only advice and directions, but most importantly they gave us a wonderful appreciation of their country that we came to so greatly admire. The accommodation was excellent, clean and comfortable. The furniture, including beds were made by the owners from local wood. The food was excellent. But in the end, it was our hosts that made our stay so very special. Chris and Burt

Hosts were so helpful and extremely nice, they were on hand to take us anywhere we needed to go. Tours, airport, town, shopping and at any time of the day/night.
They helped us book tours and accommodation at our next destination.
Dinner was the best we have had in all of South America.
The puppy was so cute and fun to have around.
The Wooden buildings and some furniture were hand build by the one of the owners, was a nice touch and well built.
Very warm building and atmosphere would recommend to any and everyone visiting Punta arenas

I honestly dont know which one should be #1 on TA. We had the pleasure of staying at both on our trip. La Casa Escondida (the hidden house) is this quaint little wooden house set in amongst some forrest. Everything about the place was fantastic. We had the pleasure of dealing with both Luis and Mauricio (and Mauricio's and Pamela's mother!). Both were extremely helpful, nothing was too much issue for them. Breakfast was amazing, and we also had a (very well priced) BBQ dinner set up for us which was delicious!
You really cant go wrong between La Casa Escondida and Tragaluz. Both are value for money. They only thing that may sway you either way is location. If you want to be in the heart of the city then stay at Tragaluz, but if you want to be out in nature, in the peace and quiet then stay at La Casa Escondida. Note: Getting dropped into town and picked up again was NEVER an issue with Mauricia or Luis, no matter the time. They give you a mobile phone so you can call them when you are ready to get picked up.
This place is truly special, and there are a lot of B&Bs out there that could learn a thing or 2 from both La Casa Escondida and Tragaluz.
