“Clean, modern hotel with pretty views”
Reviewed March 4, 2012

Stayed here for one night before heading out on our Tierra Del Fuego cruise. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The waiter in the Sky Lounge gave us a great recommendation for dinner. Our room was clean and of a modern design, like a W hotel. The breakfast was included in our rate and it was very good with many selections to choose from, including made to order omlets. The hotel is located just a few books from the main square of the town and a few hundred yards from the pier where we met our cruise ship.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the harbor/ Straits of Magellean

This is by far the best hotwl, big rooms, excellent view, great shower, good service although slow as you can expect in many places in Patagonia. Spa services are also great. Location only 2 blocks from main square

Because we were unable to go to Torres del Paine due to the bushfire, we decided to treat ourselves with a nice hotel for the days around New Years Eve. The casino-hotel is a totally misplaced glass and concrete structure at the waterfront, not matching at all with the nice small buildings in this end of the world town, but having said this, our room with views at the Street of Magellan was nice. Huge bed, tv with lots of channels and have I already mentioned the view?... The shower was great as well, although using it meant flooding the entire place so we had to ask for extra towels (no reaction was given to the reason we gave for needing new towels). Wifi in the room was not working well due to bad reception, extraordinary for Patagonia, even in the most simple hostel wifi worked fantastic.

When staying in the hotel, you can go into the casino for free. Unfortunately, smoking is allowed in there everywhere, so the smell was terrible.
On the first floor there's a spa and swimming pool with nice views. Steambath was way too hot. You need your room key to 'check inn' to the healthzone, and while we only were given one room key my partner stayed in the dark in the hotelroom cause without the keycard only the television worked. You can probably ask for a second one.

Service at the frontdesk was slow and when checking out they use walky talkies to check if you really didn't have anything from the minibar. Not suitable for such a chic, expensive hotel (and they do have all your details anyway!).

Breakfast was great, with lots of different things, fresh fruits, smoked salmon and even champagne.

If you like luxury, this is the place to be in Punta Arenas, but for a more Patagonian feeling, stay elsewhere and save your money for nice excursions.

Room Tip: Rooms with waterfrontview can't be guaranteed, but you should really try to have one!

We spent two nights and had a very nice room with sea view. Staff is very friendly and was very supportive to get my luggage, which was delayed by Lan Chile. The hotel is well located and is a great place to start your Patagonia trip.

Best hotel by far in Punta Arenas in my experience - I have stayed at some others over the years when going to and from the Falkland Islands - but this place is new. Rooms are very large, comfortable, and have a designer feel to them. The electronic blinds between the room and bathroom are a bit of a novelty. Shower is absolutely amazing - it's spacious and has all sorts of spa style spray nozzles. Breakfast offering is very good. Staff accommodating - allowed us to check-in early.

We stayed at Dreams hotel for two nights. The room and the view were just perfect. The classical music was played in the bathroom and it was really nice. The location couldn't be better if you want to explore Punta Arenas for a day or two this is the place to stay. The staff were nice and friendly. The only thing I would complain is the heat in the room as it gets very hot in day time (the beginning of summer in December) We asked for a fan but it's still hot even at night. The breakfast was good and I would definitely stay here again next time I am in Punta Arenas. The Unimarc (Chilean version of convenient store) is only a few minutes walk from the hotel.
