Punta Arenas is a strange place--like going back an era. The wind is wicked and we were there in thier summer! We really did not know what to expect from this hotel--what a surprise--it was lovely. Very comfortable rooms, that were very clean. The staff were friendly and efficient. There is a small bar area , but we took our drinks to the lounge. The food was excellent--food in this area , we were told by a Chilean fried , is not good. Breakfast was a little chaotic , and on the first morning they had run out of virtually everything , so we had to wait whilst new arrived--a little slow. I would recommend this hotel to my friends--we enjoyed our stay very much.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back--you can then open the windows and it is quiet.

This hotel is located a short walk from the centre of the town in a quiet location. Our room was comfortable but there was a car park just outside the window and slamming car doors could not be avoided!
There was a very small bar and a nice little restaurant. In the bar area there were two computers for the use of guests and free Wi-fi.
It is a good hotel for a stopover.

Room Tip: Some rooms at the back are next to the hotel car park and can be noisy.

We stayed at this hotel for one night, This is a Marriott type hotel in this lovely "end of the world" town. The hotel was a very good surprise for us we did not expect such a high level hotel in such a remote town. The service at the reception was friendly and efficient. The room was very big with a nice large bathroom. the hotel was very clean and cosy. We had dinner at the hotel which was a real chef gurmet for a very reasonable price. We highly recomend this hotel, it is great value for the money.

I booked a Junior Suite at this hotel, knowing that a Junior Suite is splitted in a bed area and a sitting area, optical divided! Not necessarily two separat rooms! At least a Junior Suite offers more space than a standard room! The hotel "Rey Don Felipe" in Punta Arenas has a very strange view of the expression "Junior Suite". I ended up in a room, well little bigger than the regular rooms, but still a standard room, no divided bed area and the sitting area was ONE chair! Not even enough space to put my belongings. I told the person who checked me in that evening but instead of at least pretending he is sorry, i taught me a lesson what a junior suite means in this hotel. Basically an apology from HIS side, is required in this case! In fact a junior suite at the hotel "Rey Don Felipe" is a fraud! Its not what people expect when they read the word "Junior Suite"

Our Standard Rooms have an average size of 22 m2, equipped with two twin beds (1.05 x 2.0 mts) or a king size double bed (1.80 x 2.0 mts). Junior Suites go over the 30 m2 and they are equipped with two queen size double beds (1.50 x 2.0 mts). Our Suites exceed the 34m2 and they contain a king size bed (1.80x 2.0 mts), besides hot tub, shower and bidet in the bathroom, they count with console tables and a table with two comfortable chairs in the same space. We are deeply sorry we couldn't match your expectations, but our service in this matter goes along with all the requirements and regulations of our country.

We stayed in Rey Don Felipe in February 2012. It was a last-minute booking, but we had superb service from the staff, who were extremely friendly and welcoming. We had a set of difficult connections into and out of Punta Arenas and they were very helpful in accommodating us and sorting out some of logistical problems. A big thank you to them!

We took Cascada Expedition's advice (backed up by Frommers) and stayed here on the way to and from Torres del Paine park - so glad we did. Very clean, quiet, modern rooms - most welcome after many hours of traveling. Helpful and reasonably friendly front desk staff. The included breakfasts offered a tasty selection of typical foods, with attentive servers when things got busy. This hotel is just off the beaten path, yet an easy walk to the center of town and restaurants/shops. About 1/2 hour's stroll from both the fascinating and historic cemetery and waterfront. Punta Arenas is definitely worth exploring, not just passing through, and this small hotel makes a good base for that.

Room Tip: Both rooms we stayed in (ground and 4th floors) were quiet and clean; no particularly interesting vi...
