This was one of the oddest hostels and towns we have stayed in. But none the less, the room was clean, spacious and the owner was nice. The wifi never worked for us, but there was a computer you could quickly hop on and off as other travelers were always eagerly waiting. Good spot for a night. Easy to walk to the water or to town. Not very many options for restaurants. Book morning buses ahead of time. A Brazilian couple couldn't get a morning bus to Torres Del Paine in time for their tour so they had to pay the owners husband 50,000 clp to drive them. Ouch!

The hostel is away fro the centre, but in a calm neighbouhood not far from the Magellan Strait. It was reasonnably clean and quite comfortable, but therre were not enough showers and bathrooms.
The uncool detail: Breakfast was supposed to be served at 7 but at 7:30 it was still not served. We had an early flight so we had to leave without eating anything.

It feels a bit like living with the family that owns that place since they also stay there, but they are all so sweet that it didnt bother us. We came here by accident since another hostel mixed up our booking. The dorm was spacious (no lockers though) and the beds comfortable. The breakfast was good. We switched after one night back to the other hostels though, because this one is quite far away from the city (15 minute walk). But if you want to see the cemetery, which is beautiful, its only a couple of minutes walk!

It's cheap, warm and bathrooms are kept clean. But we booked a room with private bathroom and arrived to find that none was available- the owner blamed the guests which 'had just stayed on', which turned out to be absolute rubbish (we had breakfast with them the next morning). We were given a different room where people kept smoking outside the window so it stank of smoke. The family's kid and father kept using the only PC themselves for games & work and the wifi didn't work for more than 10 minutes over our 3 day stay. Rather average experience.

The location is a bit of a pain, as it's quite a walk into town. However taxis are cheap and the owners are happy to book them for you.

It is surpringly big - 3 houses joined together, so it has a sprawling rabbit-warren feel to it. And it is somebody's house so the family is often there. But it was clean and friendly which seems to be difficult to find in Punta Arenas so we were pleased with the choice.
