“A Miladon is a big sloth”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 30, 2014

I visited as part of my one-day tour to Torres del Paine. This stop was about 30-45 minutes. We only walked through the main cave, but there are additional walking treks that looked good if you want to put in more time. The cave is awe inspiring. I started imaging myself as a prehistoric human fighting the elements by camping in the huge cave. At the entrance there is a pamphlet in English and several of the signs include an English translation. There is a huge replica of the Miladon that is a great prop for photos. A good side trip if you are in the neighborhood.

“Cuevas de Milodon”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 13, 2014

Not worth a special trip just for that, but if you are going to Tores de Paine you might as well stop there. There is the story of a herbivore giant sloth that livede there about 12,000 years ago.

“A cave with a statue of a Milodon”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 4, 2014

The title is about as exciting as it gets. However, it is in Patagonia, so you are surrounded by the incredibly beautiful, stark and austere Patagonian landscape and can have a look at the local flora.

“Cool but pretty simple”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 4, 2014

The area is beautiful, with spectacular views all around. There are informational boards to read while walking the paths and a short introductory clip available to watch at the welcome center. We received a good lesson on glaciation and erosion. The cave itself is enormous with a trail walking through it. They have a cast metal replica of the mylodon and a few artifacts, mostly replicas, that were found at the site. When we went we were the only ones there. We did the trail over to the middle cave, and while a beautiful walk past many wildflowers, if you are pressed for time, this can be skipped, but it was enjoyable.

“Waste of time...”

Almost every tour from Puerto Natales to Torres del Paine park stops at this cave. Nothing interesting, is just a stopping point to get some money from tourists...
