We spent three nights at ER2 before and after our trek in Torres del Paine. The hosts were very nice and our room was spacious and clean. We were happy to find that it's more of a B&B (i.e. private rooms) than a hostel, which seemed to be filled with couples. Breakfast was just so-so, but nice that it's included. It's a 10 minute walk from town, which I wouldn't necessarily want to do alone at night (although it seemed safe, it was dark and empty). Overall, would definitely recommend ER2 for a few nights in Puerto Natales.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the second floor so you don't have to hear people walking up/down the stairs.

Erratic Rock II bills itself as a hostel for couples, which is an accurate description, although because the rooms are private and have private bathrooms, it is more expensive than hostels usually are. It could also be called a B&B. It is in a residential neighborhood that is a 5-10 minute walk to town. The breakfasts are the more complete than most, with delicious home-make bread and scrambled eggs. Guests are allowed to use the refrigerator and cook in the kitchen until 9:00 pm. The staff is excellent. Marcella, the director, speaks fluent English and was extremely helpful when I was making the reservation and looking for tour options. The only drawback is that the walls between the rooms are very thin; we heard every word of a long-distance phone call in the room next door early one morning.

Room Tip: The back room on the second floor shares only one common wall, but people walking by could be a prob...

My husband and I stayed at Erratic Rock 2 on a very brief visit to Puerto Natales. Unfortunately we had just learnt of a family bereavement on our journey and so as soon as we hit Erratic Rock we were busy organising our return journey back to the UK. The staff were brilliant, helping us contact airlines, taxis and just generally helping us sort things out.

The room was lovely, clean and spacious. The place has great Wifi access and a separate kitchen if you wish to cook for yourself. It was the only place we stayed in that actually put our breakfast out the next morning even though we were leaving extremely early.

Thank you!

The rooms are basic but had ample shelving for storing our belongings. Our bed was comfortable, our bathroom was very clean, and the shower was great. There is a shared kitchen that is stocked with basic utensils for cooking. Breakfast is included and has an ample selection of bread, fruit, eggs, cheese, meat, yogurt, cereal, etc... The staff was super friendly and helpful for information within Puerto Natales and Torres del Paine. Each day fresh bread is baked for the next morning and fills the entire hostel with such an amazing smell. Delicious!!! Erratic Rock I offered a free information session everyday at 3pm which Erratic Rock II generously informed us of. The hostel is located on the outskirts of town which can be slightly annoying on the cold, rainy days when you have to get things done around town.

The rooms were small, basic but clean. ThEy have a shared computer with Internet access. The staff was friendly and helpful. They were able to answer questions about the trek and related logistics. One Of the buses that takes you to the park starts outside the er2. You can buy tix in the lobby.
They provide overnight laundry service for when u return from the trek.
Being part of a larger group, aka erratic rock hostel and equipment rental gives them an edge.
Walking distance to restaurants, shops and the main square.

We actually stayed at Erratic Rock II for just one night in November 2010 but there's now way of selecting that date. Our room was on the ground floor, overlooking a small square of grass and it was warm and comfortable. Plenty of room, hot water and a very comfy bed. Breakfast was a little bit hit and miss but we'll go back there when we go back to Puerto Natales later this year.
