“Superb Location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 2, 2008

I stayed at this property for one night on the tail end of a trip to Patagonia as a 'treat' to myself.

The hotel's location is stunning. The view onto the Ultima Esperanza Sound from the rooms is breathtaking. This is the hotel's biggest selling point. Plus the reception staff are very friendly and helpful, and the hotel has a spa on the top floor, which the residents can avail of at no charge.

But for the price, I expected more. The Indigo is not cheap, yet the standard room configuration does not include a bath (although it does have an excellent shower). The hotel has internet access on the ground floor, but there are two terminals only (for those without WiFi), albeit that these are Macs.

I intended to eat at the restaurant, but the menu was not exciting and I ate at one of the several good restaurants nearby. It's mostly about the location at this hotel, but it is an expensive price to pay for a view that some of the cheaper hostels can also provide at a fraction of the price!

But as I write this, I recall the superb bed and a fantastic night's sleep at this accommodation. If you are tempted and have the money to spare, go for it.

We stayed only one night at this hotel which was the only negative. We had stayed 3 days in Torres Del Paine National Park and done a fair bit of walking. This place has a great little spa on the roof and we certainly made use of that. You can lie in a hot pool on the outdoor rooftop terrace and look at the glaciers in the distance - fantastic. The hotel is definitely one of the most stylish I have stayed in - and recently there have been a lot - and it is even more surprising given the location. This town is pretty remote and the level of design in this place is very impressive. Rooms are pretty small but have some really cool touches...great showers for example. The interior of the hotel is very funky and welcoming and the common spaces are full of plush sofas, books etc as well as free internet. Cost was not cheap - about $200 - but we really enjoyed it. The restaurant was good and a nice bar upstairs. I would definitely recommend for a bit of unexpected luxury and pampering.

We stayed at the new Hotel Indigo on the reccomendation of the Lonely Planet guide which went out on a limb a little bit and gave it an editors pick before the hotel was officially open. As we are on an around the world trip (two months in) and spending only a few weeks in Chile, it was important to make the right choice.

We stayed for almost a week as we decided to traverse into the National Park and other points of interst and make Puerto Natales our home base while renting a car for the ¨Baja 500¨ run north on all clear or semi-clear days.

The hotel has a sophisticated and modern design and Euro feel to it thoughout, with cozy couches and incredible views of the bay and mountains beyond from the bar, restaurant and many of the rooms. We had a corner unit as a triple with an extra bed with a decent view. The best feature is the top floor spa area with plush lounging pads with small wood burning fireplace, cold and hot plunges with huge views and a nice dry sauna. Very private, quite and clean.

There is free wireless internet thoughout the hotel that worked flawlessly our entire stay.

The room came with a continental breakfast included and it was rather simple but good. Fruit, cereal, bread, cheese and ham with juice and coffee.

We can not offer a review of the restaurant beyond this as we ate out on the town every day. (Try Angelicas!)

Overall, this is a brand spanking new hotel that is working out some of the final kinks, but it is FULL of wonderful people from top to bottom who are all going out of their way to make you feel like family. We were greeted from the start as special guests. More importantly, we left with a better understanding and appreciation of who was special, for it is the wonderful people of Puerto Natales and Southern Patagonia and Chile in general.
