Owner description: Whether hiking to it or simply viewing it from afar, this massive glacier is truly extraordinary.

I hiked into this glacier during the TdP trek and it was an incredible experience to see it from afar glowing from the distance, it stood out from the surrounding environment. Then you can get very close to this truly huge glacier.

There are boat trips available that take you closer to the glacier. If you absolutely want to make this boat trip you should book in advance. We just walked on the moraine and on the island that split the lake in half. We saw the Glacier in the distance and wondered why the boat trips were taking about three hours. When the boat arrived we saw why: boarding takes a lot of time, as they are shipping passengers to the bigger vessel in a small boat and the strong wind made the bigger vessel move quite slowly. If you are planning to see the Glacier Perito Moreno, skip the boat trip to Glacier Grey. Access to Perito Moreno is much easier and Grey is just as beautiful from afar, especially with all those bizarrely shaped icebergs bobbing in the lake.

It is amazing that you can drink from any lake/stream without consequence. This is very rare around the world! We hiked to a rock outcrop and directly to the water level to get a full view of the glacier.

Spectacular views, ice breaking into the lake, geological formations, great hiking, untouched forest.

The approach from the forest is lovely, and as you reach the beach, you can see the icebergs from the glacier shining a strange blue. Didn't want to leave despite the wind and rain. Just added to the experience.
