Spectacular views, ice breaking into the lake, geological formations, great hiking, untouched forest.

The approach from the forest is lovely, and as you reach the beach, you can see the icebergs from the glacier shining a strange blue. Didn't want to leave despite the wind and rain. Just added to the experience.

We took a boat to the front of this glacier, absolutely stunning! The lake leading to the glacier has icebergs of all sizes floating about. This is a must see in Torres del Paine.

Torres del Paine is definitely one of the more expensive areas of Chile...that being said, if you've come all this way, you can't miss the glacier! We took the 12-3pm boat tour (96USD pp), and the company was very helpful in answering all my questions over multiple emails to help me plan our excursion. Wear warm clothes as the ride is cold, although you can sit inside and enjoy the views through the windows if you need a break from the wind. I've seen multiple glaciers in Alaska but they still amaze me all the same. We had a sunny day and the glacier was beautiful although others on the boat said it became even bluer when cloudy. The boat took us reasonably close to three arms of the glacier and served Pisco or Calafate sours. The only thing I was not fond of was the boat timing...it was hard to coordinate with other lodging and transportation in the park. Best way is to have your own car.

We hiked the Glacier Grey trail on the last day. But when the weather finally turned bad and ended up hiking in perhaps freezing temperate in heavy rain and wind, we had to turn back just before Refugio Grey before conditions got even worse. We got some glimpse of the glacier and seemed like it would have been an awesome sight, without the fog/rain that is.
