“Superb experience!”
Reviewed February 15, 2014

My husband and I, who are both nearing 50 years of age, had an amazing time completing the Circuito last week. The trip was perfectly organised by Dittmar Adventures, who also provided a guide and a porter to carry our camping and personal stuff.

Our hike started from the CONAF Administrative Center, and the circuit completed at The Refugio Paine Grande, where we took the catamaran and bus back to Puerto Natales. Our trek took 9 days, and we slept in refugios (5 nights) and campsites (3 nights). We experienced all the 4 weather seasons during our trek there, so to be prepared is essential - including gloves! The W part of the trek was busy, but once we got off into the back part of the park, we knew we were in for a treat.

The park was astoundingly beautiful - glaciers, the different flora and fauna, the geological varieties, the different lakes and rivers - provided us with different sceneries each day. Our guide, who used to work as a ranger in the park, was so knowledgeable and was very keen to share his passion. He was attentive, professional and very easy going, and that made the whole trekking experience more enjoyable. His interaction with the local staff also provided us some 'privileges', such as having to stay in a room all to ourselves.

One point worth mentioning is our stay at the Refugio Dickson. It's location was so perfect, and the accommodation very clean, with lovely hot showers. And the surprise is the meals cooked by Carlos, a delicious 4 course dinner and for breakfast, we were treated to some homemade bread! Wonderful!

We would recommend doing the Circuit without a doubt, more so during a less high peak season. And having a fantastic guide would make the whole experience more enriching.

“A Must”
Reviewed February 15, 2014

Stunning, such scenery, good walking, demanding hikes, good treks, good camping sites.

Go, visit experience.

Beware supplies have to be expensively trucked in and are correspondingly expensive. If visiting for the day, bring a picnic.

“Top Towers”
Reviewed February 7, 2014

We (3 of us) did the 'O' circuit over christmas 2013. Whilst the scenery is jaw droopingly good, the trails great and the circuit quite easy (we are very experienced hikers) it has not been our best hike by a considerable margin. We unavoidably had to go in the peak season so this is a down side as the W side of the circuit is very busy whilst the the other side (the O) is just plain busy. However overall it was a 4/5 trek. I have marked it for the trekking and not the services.

Great scenery
Good trails
Easy route finding
Camp sites and refuges en route
Camp sites are reasonably priced

Very expensive food-take your own food.
Refuge costs at Torres is a rip off $71 for a bed, give it a break!
Unsmiling help at most refuge/camp spots
Some refuge sites had poor facilities-ie toilets
Weather down this part of the world is very intermittent. It ranged from 25c, gale force winds, rains and a Scottish winter white out...all in ten days in summer!

Also a note of caution. If you are going in season then don't depend on beds or food at refuges as very often you will have teams of runners or hikers coming up behind you or in front en mass and they will take up all of the facilities. We encountered this but luckily took our own tents (you can hire tents and rent them at the camp sites) and all of our food.

Worth the trip but I honestly prefer the treks in Nepal and Europe before this one.

We were very lucky. A beautiful sunny and warm day gave us great views of the Torres del Paine.
The mountains and adjacent lakes were breathtaking. There is a hotel in the Park that was fabulous. I am not finding the name on trip advisor but the rooms were brand new and gorgeous with great views. I had a king size bed and terrific bathroom. Definitely a five star. Dinner was great there. All good
