Pire Mapu Cottage Bed and Breakfast
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed December 22, 2012 via mobile

We were greeted by the lovely Fabiana at the bus station while everyone else getting off the bus looked confused trying to find their accomodation! The cottage is gorgeous, with lots of lovely antiques collected by Fabiana and Brendan. The rooms are so comfortable and the whole place is immaculate. The breakfast is as all the reviews have said, the best we've had in South America, delicious with fantastic coffee. All this said, the thing that is really special about Pire Mapu is Fabiana and Brendan. They made us feel so welcome and we loved talking to them over the few days that we stayed. They really care that you have all that you need and do everything they can to help (which has not been our experience in many places, including Erratic Rock 2 also in Puerto Natales where most of the staff were really unhelpful). Also Fabiana's father works in the Torres del Paine park so she can give you an expert opinion of what to expect. Don't stay anywhere else in Puerto Natales!

We stayed here for four nights and we were made to feel at home straightaway. Pire Mapu has a real cosy cottage charm with all modern ammenities included. Large bedroom, excellent shower room, fabulous breakfasts, very comfortable and clean.

However, what sets this home apart are the wonderful hosts, Fabiana and Brendon. They have created a sense of home within Puerto Natales that is a really pleasant surprise when you cross the threshold for anybody who has the good fortune to stay here.

Both provided excellent customer service, attention to detail mixed with a very relaxing and friendly manner. For two people who have been on the road for three months this was all very much appreciated. As were the many friendly chats over a cuppa.

They advised us on trips to take from Puerto Natales and took us to the offices to book with the tour companies directly. Fabiana also helped us to sort out a tricky situation with another hotel who had demanded payment in advance for a second nights stay that we realised the next day we did not want.

Fabiana arrived to collect us and take us to her home and when she realised that we had a problem she stepped in and sorted it out within a matter of moments. As we observed throughout our stay this is just one example of Fabiana - a funny, creative force for good.

If you have the opportunity to visit Puerto Natales then make this home YOUR home for a few nights. Book early. You will not regret it.

We unfortunately were not able to stay at Pire Mapu due to some temporary issue with the cottage (which appears to have been fixed since there are new reviews) but i would like to commend Brendon and Fabiana for notifying us as soon as possible, recommending an alternative location within a similar price range and still be available for information about excursions we were looking to book. Wishing all the best to Pire Mapu! Maybe next time!

Brendon and Fabiana met us at the bus station with big smiles that were so welcoming. They helped us get organised for our stay in this town then took us to their special cosy cottage where you have everything you could possibly wish for. Walking into town is easy, straight down the street, and yes it is not in the centre but the walk is along well lit streets. and takes 5-10 minutes. Taking a taxi is another option and they are cheap here, standard fare.

The cottage consists of 2 double bedrooms (soon to be added another bedroom) and a lovely cosy sitting room and dining area with kitchen, warm fires if it is chilly, hot water, good showers and fast speed internet.

Breakfasts are good, plenty to keep one going through the day and of course this is the place to visit the Torres del Paine Nat. Pk. Completely bowled over by the tour suggested and organised by Fabiana. A must see experience. Returning from hiking in the mountains? then this is the place to warm up, get clean again and eat well.
You will always be welcomed back by these gracious hosts. Good luck to them and a big thank you.

Room Tip: All the rooms are good.

We stayed for three nights and was simply the best B&B experience
during our three months trip. There are only two rooms available, so you are lucky of you get one! Brandon & Fabiana are superfriendly hosts. Preparing wonderful breakfast and the fireplace in the evening.

We loved staying at Pire Mapu, it felt like a home away from home! From a cozy fireplace, comfy bed, good shower, great breakfast to lovely hosts, everything was there. Fabiana and Brendan are very friendly and helpful. Places like this make a stay so much more memorable than an impersonal hotel experience. We are traveling now for over two years and stayed at lots of hotels/B&Bs in Asia, Australia, South and North America and we have to say: this place made it into our top 5!

We were unable to find the website for this B&B but Bren and Fabiana were quick to respond to our email enquiry.

It was great to get met at the bus station when we arrived and driven the couple of blocks to the property, where we found a comfortable home to recuperate in for a couple of nights. The double ensuite room was just off the lounge and kitchen areas. It was very comfortable and warm with a great shower! The property is a little further out of town than many of the other hotels / hostels, but it is an easy 5-10 minute walk into the centre of town and the waterfront.

We were given the run of the lounge which was a good place to sit in front of a wood fire in the evening with a glass of wine.

Breakfast was great with fresh coffee, home made bread, ham, cheese and scrambled eggs. Whilst we were in Puerto Natales for a couple of days R&R Bren and Fabiana were more than happy to organise trips to the glaciers if we'd wanted them, to suggest places to eat in town and organised for all our laundry to get done whilst we stayed with them.

A very nice alternative to staying in a hotel or a hostel with a couple who were more than happy to make it feel like your home in their house.
