First, the good part. The location is unbeatable. The hotel is a very scenic 15-20 minute walk south of town. The cabanas are close to the beachfront. They could use a little renovation, but there are no serious problems to report. Each one has its own patio.

The major problem here is that the hotel hosts a lot of local Arica weddings and corporate functions. One night during our stay the celebration ran until 4:30 AM. Huge speakers are placed poolside- you can imagine the rest. Another night a corporate party raged next door to us. No attempt is made to warn guests. The staff make no apology, and we wondered why guests were housed in the closest cabanas, when vacant ones were further away.

If you see preparations being made for a wedding party, insist on being moved away from the pool area. Nor are the staff particularly welcoming (the cleaning ladies excepted, they are wonderful). The front desk and restaurant staff seem caught up in an inflated sense of self-importance. But when you're the only beachfront hotel in town...

This is one of the few hotels on the seafront in Arica and is a little out of the city, but it is a short taxi ride or a pleasant enough walk with Playa Laucho on one side and El Morro on the other. To compensate for the distance it has a lovely position, overlooking the ocean and dominated by EL Morro to the north. A good well located pool, with pleasant staff, although you might have to go and get them rather than they come to you. Some of the rooms can be a little tired, but reasonable for the price. The most convenient place to stay in Arica by far and I would not consider staying anywhere else.

My husband and I plus two friends booked this hotel using only the information provided by the hotel. We were told it was a 4-star hotel. All bookings had to be made through a Florida based travel agency and everything had to be paid in full in advance. The friend who made the reservations through the Florida travel agency said it was not an easy process. Both couples booked and pre-paid for 3 nights. We were under the impression that we were going to a nice beach area. Arica is not easy to get to as it's a 3 1/2 hour flight from Santiago. We were dismayed upon arrival in the city and even more dismayed when we arrived at the hotel. What had been described as a very nice hotel with full aminities turned out to be a tiny room with twin beds, no air conditioning and no mini bar. What they also neglected to tell us was that the rooms came complete with mildewed bathrooms and ants! We immediately made plans for departure but due to limited flights had to stay one night.

The hotel staff was perfectly friendly and efficient. We ate in the hotel restaurant where the food and service was good. We noticed that almost exclusively that the other guests were European. I wonder what they thought of the place.

We asked for a full refund from the Florida travel agent and of course never received one. This turned out to be an expensive mistake between what we had to pay for this hotel, new flights back to Santiago and accommodations in Santiago. I hope I can spare someone else this ordeal. Please note that all four of us in our travel party have traveled extensively around the world. Three of us spent at least a decade each in the travel industry. This was not an amateur mistake. We were given very bad information about the hotel.
