It's a decent hotel, very friendly staff and a nice bar. The room I stayed in was decent with a nice balcony and a good view of the city. The street in front of the hotel gets quite busy and noisy some nights, but was not a disturbance. Also, the free wifi actually quite reliable, which is saying a lot for that part of Africa.

All in all a pretty good, conveniently placed hotel.

Room Tip: Make sure you get a room with a balcony. Especially if you happen to be a smoker.

1. The restaurant is terrible, slow with overpriced fast-food quality food. The breadfast costs 60000F extra which is bad value for money. There are few choices of food. The fruit and salad are not fresh at all. There are just few choices on the menu, often half on which are not available

2. The restaurant is always noisy with the shouting of football matches(The waiters often watch football match at work) which makes it like a bar.

3. The Internet connection is terribly slow(max. 20-30KB/S). You have to ask for a new password every 24 hours. And every connection needs the input of the password. Very annoying!

4. The hotel is situated beside a main road and a school. The noise of the motorcycle is around 24 hours a day. Very early in the morning, the loudspeaker of the school will wake you up.

5. They give you only 10ml of shower gel ONLY. There is NO shampoo.

6. The reception demands a deposit before check-in, suspecting that the guest would run away without paying.

I have stayed at this hotel several times over the past few years. It is modern, clean, good restaurant and safe. The pool is on the roof of a separate building and also includes a nice but small gym.

Hotel Palace Bano, is one of the best hotels in Douala, the stay is quite good and the hotel have good wifi connection. The hotel is also very well situated close to the business district of Akwa and close to the Douala Port. The Staff is well trained and very friendly, there are some better places to eat in town, but the breakfast is your normal 3 star hotel breakfast in Cameroon.

Room Tip: Try get the higher floor rooms, floor 6, and rooms in the corners

I stay here quite often and its clean, safe and offers useful services. As most hotels in Cameroon its worth to use/negotiate corporate rates (easily a 40% reduction in room rates). Meals are (as in most hotels) so-so, just nowhere near as good as you'd get in any restaurant in town. The pool is small but situated on the roof. Service is friendly and rooms are spotless and offer internet/cable etc. The bathrooms (not exactly top notch showers) and the lack of a garden/greenery are small points of possible improvement

I stayed here as part of a large group. Initially planned to be just overnight but circumstances resulted in a lengthy stay.
I found the staff to be helpful and friendly, the food quite nice, and the standard of housekeeping surprisingly high.
The gym was under refurbishment so off limits. They have a fairly modest rooftop swimming pool which was clean and safe.
Nice place, all in all.
