Your first impression is of a beautiful statuesque manor on a quiet street away from the very noisy backpackers’ area. The reception was extremely helpful with maps, suggesting brilliant tucked away local places have dinner, they even organised us tickets to a buffet dinner followed by a traditional apsara dance performance for only $10!

They have a substantial breakfast menu to choose from & everything I tried was really yummy. Complete with a lovely pool, computers with internet access & coffee/tea making facilities.

They have their own tuk-tuk driver that will drop you wherever you want to go in town at no cost & the trip back by tuk-tuk will cost you only $1/$2. "Pub street" as the vibey bustling area is know is just a few minutes away by tuk-tuk & there you will find bars, clubs, pubs, massages etc at cheap prices.

The Golden Mango is the ideal spot from which to explore the Angkor Wat temples & all the other tourist attractions, the best way to get around if you're planning a whole day of exploring is to rent a tuk-tuk with a driver for the day at $20/$25. If you are fit & brave you could always rent a bike & pedal around the city.

If you do decide to take the floating city boat trip be prepared for the large hidden expenses; first the $30 trip charge by the boat operator, then follows the sad story about the local orphanage/school where they encourage your to spend between $30 & $150 at the local floating shop on supplies for them. I was travelling on a tight budget so the nearly $80 is spent made quite a dent.

We booked at the Golden Mango in for 4 nights and had an AMAZING time. The facilities were gorgeous with terraces on every floor and an outside veranda to have breakfast in, felt like a tropical get away. Our room was nicely decorated, clean and spacious. But the best thing about this place is the staff. I give them an A++. They arranged everything for us, even if we wanted a tour that same day, a half hour later a tour guide would be waiting for us outside! I DEFINITELY will be staying at the Golden Mango Inn when I come back.

Can only say great things about this hotel. If you don't mind staying a bit out of town this is the place to be. By tuk tuk you can be in town within 5 minutes. Exceptionally friendly staff, wonderful and spacious standard room, very nice breakfast and very pleasant swimming pool. Excellent overall value for money and me and my wife would not hesitate one second checking into this hotel again. To the staff: thanks again for the very pleasant stay!
A little closer to the city perhaps but we really did not experience this as an issue at all. 5 minutes only and the hotel offeres a complimentary tuk tuk trip to town.

For $10pp per night this place is amazing. The staff are great and you get a great welcoming on arrival and an explanation of the facilities available to you. the location is the only average thing but in saying that of you want to go to pub street the hotel organizes you a free tuk tuk and it's only a $2 tuk tuk to get back! Brilliant

It just wasn't wonderful for us. The room was ok, as it was at the front it was noisy, though doen a side road you could still clearly hear the main road. The food wasn't very good and the restaurant area had a tendency to play music with the tv going, it was quiet and I reckon the staff bored. Pool is lovely but no sun due to the surrounding buildings so a little on the fresh side, with no chance of a getting a tan and there was a lot of building work going on, which didn't make it very relaxing. However the staff were amazingly friendly and the guide they organised for us was fantastic. It was very good value, but next time I would rather spend a little more and stay in town.
