“Heaven in the center of Siem Reap”

We stayed in a number of boutique hotels in Phnom Penh, but Frangipani Green Garden Hotel was the best value for money. Nice rooms, nice swimming pool, nice and helpful staff, away from the noisy street.

Had a wonderful time in Frangipani Green Garden hotel, the pool is a real oasis that is nice to visit and relax in after a long hot day at the temples. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The location is in the center. Rooms were clean and comfortable.

I booked through Agoda to stay for my fourth time from 20 August 2012. A contact in Siem Reap had told me that he thought the hotel had closed. I emailed Green Garden a week before my depareture for Cambodia to ask for a particular favourite room and received a reply confirming the specific room.
When I arrived, I found that building works were in progress and that the hotel was closed. Without informing me the owners had booked me into another of their hotels in an inconvenient position on the other side of the river. I stayed only one night there before finding a hotel close to the Green Garden, with its more convenient location
My guess, from checking before I left Siem Reap on 30 August 2012 is that the hotel will probably not be finished before October. SO BE CAREFUL - THEY MISLED ME - IT COULD HAPPEN TO YOU!
Part of the renovation work has involved removing most of the tropical vegatation which was such an attracrive feature of the original Green Garden. All the previous reviews relate to the previous ownership, and may no longer be relevant.

We stayed at the Green Garden in 2010 and 2012 and absolutely loved it. What everyone says is true: the cheap rooms will give you a pretty bad taste; the second-floor rooms are to die for. On our first trip we looked at eight other small hotels, including the Banana, so we have a good basis for comparison. Indeed, you can find many cheaper rooms but for $45 a night we remember the Green Garden as the best hotel we ever stayed at. The small compound is walled and tuk tuks come right in. The foliage gives it a tranaquil, lazy atmosphere. It is not far from town at all. Be sure to stop in the de la Paix hotel around the corner on the way to town. It's a 5-star hotel with a permanent landmine exhibit, a changing art exhibit, and excellent cappuccino.

A friend recommended this hotel. But we were disappointed. We were put in a delux twin room in the first floor. The window is very small with iron bars on it. The room is dingy and rundown. It is quite a bit of walking to the center along a dusty and polluted main road. We wanted to leave right away. Two nights later, we checked in a room at a lovely boutique hotel called Golden Banana and we absolutely love it there!

My friends and I stayed in the family room for 2 nights. This room is nicely decorated with beautiful furniture, and is very airy. You can relax or read on the balcony of the wooden house. The swimming pool was clean and shady, perfect for a rest after visiting the temples. Both nights, we had to wake up very early, so we did not try the breakfast. The location is perfect, in a very quiet area but only 10 minutes walk to Siem Reap tourist streets,

Room Tip: Family room on the 2d floor is very beautiful and good value

We arrived there around 6pm and only the rooms in the reception building were available. Looked quite gloomy, cold water, no breakfast. I was prepared to be woken up the next morning by the kitchen folks, since the rooms were located right behing the kitchen. Not only that, but some music played from 6am in the morning from somewhere outside the resort, in the street. We decided to leave the next morning. For the same price, we found a much better value for money. The staff was friendly. The internet connection was quite good. The swimming pool looked real nice.

Room Tip: Avoid the reception building. Bad value for money.
