“A wonderful way to visit the Cambodian countryside”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 31, 2012

We pre-booked our visit by phone because Happy Ranch gets busy. It was easy to get to from the centre of town by tuktuk. Our horses were tacked up and ready to go when we got there (make sure to provide information on rider experience and height/weight before going). We were outfitted with helmets and borrowed chaps. We were given information about our horses and their personalities (they're like people: sometimes they don't like each other or have quirky habits!) and rode around the ring to get comfortable on the horses. Then we headed on our way with our guide (she is volunteering at the stable). She led us through the countryside and we saw people and sights that you won't see in downtown Siem Reap. It was a very enjoyable ride, and the pace can be adapted based on your riding experience. Upon returning to the stables, we met the owner and talked with him for a while. Our daughter, a horse enthusiast, enjoyed wandering around the property inquiring about the horses when we were done riding. Overall, we had a fantastic experience. It was a great change of pace from visiting the temples all day, and a fun experience for a child. The pony our 8 year old was given (Silver) was perfect for her! I would highly recommend a ride at Happy Ranch!

“Great family outing”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 23, 2012

We visited Happy Ranch Horse Farm with my parents and two daughters & nephew (aged 7,9 & 14).

A very enjoyable activity, giving us the chance to see the beautiful countryside.

My mother and I went on the 2hr cart ride and were entertained by our enthusiastic guide. The animals appeared to be very well cared for and my children are now pestering me to take them back for another visit before we leave.

“Go Geronimo...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 20, 2012

I had organised this activity unsure if our 4 year old was too young for it, but it turned out to be one of the highlights for him in Siem Reap. The pony they choose for him - Geronimo - looked about as tame as they get and plodded along peacefully with our son in a saddle modified with shorter 4-year old length stirrups. Helmet too, of course. Very safe and he went on a lead-ride for 1 hour through the countryside. Didn't want to get off the pony when he got back. Had we stayed longer, I would have booked him in for another ride. Do make a booking to avoid disappointment - due to the heat, they only ride mornings and afternoons and they appeared to be very busy at this (peak) time. Good value for money at US$22.50 (certainly cheaper than the equivalent time on an ATV). Would highly recommend for children's activity and a change from temple trips.

“Great place for first time horse riders”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 17, 2012

We booked the hour long horse ride for 6 of us and 3 cart rides for the older people in our group. As we had several elderly in our group, I was initially quite worried that the ride would be too difficult and taxing for them, but they were very friendly and helpful us throughout the hour long ride.

As it was the first time on a horse for all of us, and some of us were a little nervous being on a horse, Happy Ranch provided a guide to hold on to the horses so we would feel more secure. After a while into the ride, they let go of the leash and allowed us to control the horses by ourselves, which was a very satisfying experience.

We took the sunset ride, and managed to take some great photos along the way. However, we did not manage to stop to take more photos, which was a pity. The owner of the farm was very hospitable and friendly, offering us advice and riding his motorcycle out along with us to make sure that my group was doing fine.

For a first time rider, I would say the hour long ride was long enough.

The cart ride was not very fun though. As the route taken was very bumpy. I would recommend the horse ride, but not the cart ride.

“Horseback riding with Happy Ranch, Siem Riep, Cambodia”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 17, 2012

I had a delightful tour with Lucy. The horse riding was a pleasant antidote for the constant sound of motorbikes involved in so many other activities. The conversation was informative and great as well. The scenery beautiful. A great two hour experience.
