Tour guides Somondy and Pov
Two day private tour for four people.

We took a tour with parents - who are in good health and fitness but in their 70s. We are quite active. our group had a range of english capability from fluent to basic.

Sam devised a very broad and rich tour itinerary for us. Everything that he advised was logical, valid and useful.

Somondy (Dy) adjusted as he went, planning around weather, crowds and constantly looking at the levels of fatigue of my parents (I think that in itself deserves five stars).
We still had the opportunity to do more active things along the way, with additional time to walk and explore.
Pov was always there, at just the right time, prompt and precise.

Somondy is incredibly knowledgeable and knows how to engage an audience. His range of knowledge - history (ancient to modern) and art, culture, engineering and architecture is really impressive, and he speaks in a way that each member of our tour group understood and stayed interested. The level of attention and attentiveness of our guides for each member of our group were really appreciated.

Cold bottled water is provided as part of the tour - that was extremely important, as we would have consumed at least 3 litres per person because of the heat.

Why would I book again?
Based on what I observed and in chatting with Somondy, I am pretty sure that he would be able to provide an even faster pace and highly active tour for a group in other circumstances.
I feel that we had exceptional value for price - we had an extensive list and plan and were able to see more in this tour even taking it slow, compared to other company offers. In addition, everything from having a comfortable car to being able to learn first hand from Somondy about Cambodia and Angkor.
I would be happy to book a second visit in Siem Reap with our guides.

Not knowing much to expect...we had an exciting and pleasant adventure exploring some of the temples and also one of the UNESCO Heritage.

The trip started out with a last minute email 2 days before the trip to Sam and his email replies were prompt and clear. (We also arranged airport transfer less then 12 hours via whatsapp!)

The pickup was comfortable with the driver Tavan. We didnt hesitate to arrange for a return transfer too.

Our guide Sophal and Tavan were on time for the trip the next day. With his good knowledge of Cambodian history and fluent english, the journey was filled with sight-seeing and interesting stories.

Phal was able to plan and time our trips to the various temples to avoid the crowd...and the crazy heat! Still...we didn't have to rush and he paced the visits to our ability and energy.

After each temple, Tavan was always on hand to give out the cool and refreshing wet towels and a bottle of cold water. Always a welcome in the heat!

Departing fr our hotel at 7.30am and completing 4 temples with lunch and even a quick stop ro the supermart and back to our hotel by about 4pm.

The temples we visited:
1. Angkor Wat
2. Bayon
3. Tasom
4. Bantaey Srei
Good enough especially if you are with kids or teens...

Remember to gear up with comfy footwear and something for the heat (an umbrella might also help if there are showers)...light clothing but please be respectful...dun forget your cameras!!!

We contacted Sam before leaving home and he was very quick to reply, communication was easy and we took his suggestion that we do the 2 day classic private tour rather than the 2 day easy go tour since it was rainy season and this proved a very prudent suggestion. Our guide Noi was marvelous, he knew all the best spots for taking photographs, pointed out small details we would have missed ourselves such as a stegosaurus among the decorations, apsaras in different poses to the usual, his knowledge of the history of the temples was top notch and his English really good. He never rushed us, was attentive to my husband who is a tad nervous of heights and steps and patiently endured pouring rain on the 2nd day to complete the tour. Our driver Tavan is also highly recommended - he was a very careful driver which we particularly appreciated in the rain, polite, always smiling and provided plenty of cold water and towels which were especially welcome on our first day in the heat. We have no reservations in recommending Noi, Tavan and Sam himself who communicated via Whats App on our arrival in Siem Reap making sure we had no concerns, thank you all for making our visit to the temples so memorable.

We have just finished an amazing 3 day private tour of Angor Wat and many other temples. To break it up we also visited waterfall in Tomb Raider and went swimming beneath it which was an unforgettable experience, a must if you go there. We also visited the floating village Kampong Plus which was a unique experience to see a whole community living together floating on water, there was even a church, school, bars and shops - we had seen a different village earlier on our holiday but this surpassed!
Our guide Sophal had very good English and was extremely knowledgeable about the temples and Cambodia 's history and culture. He was always willing to answer our questions. He often adjusted the timetable of the itinerary to avoid queues and give us the best experience possible whilst not missing anything out. Taking photos for us and taking shortcuts at Ankor War so that we were in the best place for the early morning sunrise. Both Sophal and Tavan, our driver (who always had a smile, cold water and cooling towels for us) made the experience very special and thoroughly recommend this trip.

We had a great sunrise tour with Mam and our driver. Mam was very knowledgeable, answered all of our questions, and gave us plenty of time to explore. He allowed us to set the pace of our tour and made sure we were comfortable throughout. Overall it was a very informative day and we had a great time!
