In June while visiting Siem Reap with my partner, we stayed, for only $15 a night including a wonderful breakfast, in a terrific little hotel...Big Lyna Villa...with beautiful clean quiet spacious Teakwood rooms, A/C, TV, laundry service, great inexpensive food, and a delightful Thai lady host who serves for the joy of serving and speaks English, German, Thai and Khmer. It is located across from the volleyball courts (all the Tuk Tuk drivers know the volleyball courts), on a side street on the east side of the Siem Reap River just one building back from being on the river.itself. It has no pool, but plenty of well maintained plants, a nice dinning deck and other touches.and is an easy walk or short bicycle ride to. town central. We rode bicycles to Angkor Wat and the temples, but most folks would prefer a Tuk Tuk The price is only $10 without A/C and breakfast.

We choosed this hotel on the beginning, coz my hubby was there for about 5 years ago, and he really really like stayed there and feeling like at home, thats why we decided again to go there and stayed at Big Lyna Hotel. We booked online through hotel org. in Cambodia, the price wasnt cheap actually same as 5 years ago, state on our booking that they will arangge our Breakfast, it quite confusing about this statement, coz before the price was inclusive breakfast.
The Price included pick up transport, which is with Tuk Tuk was fun though.
Hotel wasnt change at all!!!, only now its quiet since there's no guest there, at that time only 3 of us and 1 guest from Japan.
At the time we were there, was very hot, the temperature was until 40 Degree out side, and everytime we back from our tour we found out that our room woulndnt getting coller event we put the AC until 16 Degree, first we tought coz it was hot outside and took some times, so we still accept that conditions, but it was the same also after 2 days!!!! event we leave the room with aircon on all the time, we complained to the owner and she said it is what it is, she cant do much about that. She didnt event apologize for our unconvinience event we said if she didnt do anything we will change the Hotel since we have 2 more night at Siem Reap, and she said "you can change, no problem i cant do anything, the aircon is fine nobody complained before" well its obvious since they have selten guest and they were change since last 5 years, they event greeting us as we arrived or back from our tour. it was bad management, have no idea what happened with them, coz for 5 years ago, that place was full and they are more friendly than now.

we did 1 time breakfast and found out that wasnt free, and they didnt event said thanks for staying with us or just polite attitude as we leaved that Hotel to the new one 'Golden Temple Villa (cheaper and very nice--next review)

there's a lot of new hotel around Old Market, nice, cheaper, clean, cozy and with Wi Fi facility, and dont bothered to check this hotel althougwise you will dissapointed

We booked online after reading reviews from here. It's within walking distance to the main strip, where the restaurants are and because I was with my husband, I totally felt safe walking around at night. I wouldn't have done the walk by myself at night, especially because there are very few lights between Big Lyna and the tourist area.

When we first got there, it looked promising. Very simple, but clean at the entrance and lobby area. Our room was the first one from the lobby on the first floor and the staff was great and very helpful. But when we got into our room, we realized that we got what we paid for! The "air con" was very small and barely made it any cooler. There was a ceiling fan, which helped, but it took us forever to find the switch for it (as it was hidden!)
The room was a decent size, with a big bed. But the mattress was made of foam and was not too comfortable. The lighting in the room was just a florescent bar, which made the room look really cool and uninviting. Our bathroom was very humid, as there was no fan in there. There was no shower curtain in the bathroom (as with many bathrooms in SE Asia…I think it has to do with the humidity and mold issue), but made the floor wet after a shower. Good temperature control though. There were always 2 roaches in the bathtub every night, no matter how often we washed them down the drain. The walls of the bathroom were old and a little moldy, with paint chipping.

The worst part was the curtain in the room, which had a cluster of 10 little insect eggs that we didn't notice until we got back one afternoon…and only noticed because there were about 10 other small insects munching on the eggs…so nasty! We managed to get them into a cup and showed the staff in the lobby, but they just laughed and threw the bugs outside, in front of our window…the staff were so cute, but barely spoke English. Because we were only there for one more night, we didn't switch rooms or hotels. All in all, I would pay a few more dollars and stay in a nicer place. I'm pretty good with roachy places, but this was a bit much!

This place is a nice, clean, friendly place close to the centre of Siem Reap. It is close enough to the center that you can walk there, but far enough that you're not disturbed by the noise of the city. The staff speak limited English - but enough of the important bits to get the things you need. Our room was a nice size, with a fan and en suite bathroom. We didn't have hot water, but I think you could get a room with it. The breakfast was nice, just baguette and jam. The coffee was terrible, but the tea was ok! We booked with them to come back to Poipet (the land crossing with Thailand) and it was terrible. DON'T DO IT!! For two people the price was not far off the price of a taxi and instead of taking 3 hours from start to finish it took 7. The bus was slow, stopped a number of times at places you felt it had only stopped at so you could buy something and the staff could earn commission. This doesn't reflect on the guest house really - as it seemed to be a service they could buy for you rather than run. BUT you have been warned :-)

I would recommend this guest house to anyone. Good value; nice en suite rooms in the middle of town. Service brilliant - if you need a guide go with theirs - he was great.... Overall a great place!

The staff at Big Lyna Villa were friendly and nice. The rooms were nice as well and clean. The guesthouse is located off the main area so it gets nice and quiet at night. The only problem was that there was construction going on during the day so if you wanted to take a nap during the day, you'd be out of luck. Other than that, it is a lovely place with amazing khmer breakfast! Try the breakfast, not to be missed.

This is a gorgeous wooden fronted B&B on the quiet side of the river in Siem Reap. The owner employs locals who he teaches to speak English and then helps them to get better jobs using their new skills. The rooms are HUGE, and all very traditionally decorated. Breakfast is taken out on the terrace, surrounded by flowers and plants - bliss! Air-con works well, which is much needed in the heat. They will pick you up from the airport for free, as well.

The staff were really helpful, advising us which temples to visit etc. We used one of the guys as a Guide for 2 days - he was polite and even got up at 4am to take us to Angkor Wat for sunrise!

There is a fabulous little Japanese restaurant at the end of the street (1USD per dish) which I would highly recommend if you fancy a change from the Cambodian cuisine for a meal or two.
