I stayed in this hotel because the one i wanted next door was full! The rooms were basic but seemed clean. The staff was very amateur and did not speak English really at all. The power kept going off and on and the breakfast was a bit strange. But hey! It's Cambodia! If you want luxury in one of the poorest countries don't stay here but it's location right downtown was great. I preferred it to the fancy hotels closer to the airport but I don't think I'd stay here again. For the price I'm sure I could find much better.

We booked last minute (a day before we arrived) and were delighted with the spacious and well-appointed room, a decent breakfast, and very friendly staff. MORE than worth the low Expedia price. One of us happened to get sick during our 3-night stay, and staff was wonderful about delivering tea to the room, and helpful to the other one of us not sick!
Elevator construction was not bothersome - they worked only during hours when most people would be out. Location is GREAT - a short walk from the Old Market, the main restaurant and night-life area, and a lovely walk along the river. Also many places on the same block for alternative dining, internet, etc.
One note - when returning to the airport, arrange with a taxi (or tuk-tuk) yourself - the hotel charges $7 to take you, and the taxi's are $5 and tuk-tuk's less.

We changed to the City River Hotel at the last minute as we were notified at the last minute by the internet booking site that we had to pay an extra $65/person for a mandatory New Year's Eve dinner at the Borei. As we were flying in that night, we felt that that was excessive to pay for dinner. We ended up paying $40/night at the City River and had a simple dinner at their restaurant. Our room was spacious, clean and quiet. We had a true King bed which was nice. Included breakfast was a reasonable selection. It was a easy walk to the Old Market and to the majority of the restaurants and shops in town. The front desk staff were friendly and can make tour guide/driver reservations for you. There is internet for purchase with computers downstairs or connection in your room if you have a laptop. However, the internet connection was bit a slow, so I wouldn't do more than send simple emails with it. Overall, we were very satisfied with our stay. By the way, there is a second elevator being constructed at the hotel during certain hours of the day, so be aware. As we weren't in our rooms for very long during the day it wasn't an issue.

Excellent hotel and good value. Good service except for dinner in restaurant.

However, elevator construction makes mid-day rest impossble, and most tour guides rest from 12-2:00 PM.

We stayed here 4 nights while visiting the Angkor Temples. We booked a superior room through Expedia, that came with breakfast. The room was very spacious, clean and had a great view of the fron street. The staff were extremely pleasent, although a little language barrier on occasion, but hey this is Cambodia, just opened up to tourism in the last few years. Next door is a great resataurant, that servers great pizza and cold draft Angkor beer. It's a short walk to the market and Pub street. The value for the room is very good, and the buffet breakfast was impressive, much needed fuel for the treks to the temples. If you don't want to seclude youself in a fancy resort hotel, this is the place to enjoy Cambodia in a safe, clean, comfortable hotel that is a great value.

we pre-booked this hotel on a recommendation from friends and the fact that it has a pool. It is a great place to stay, but in case a swimming pool is important for you - there is no swimming pool - it is "under construction".
Unfortunately that is what sold us on this place and was very disappointed.
Hotel staff friendly and room lovely though. Apparently the pool will be finished by January 2007.
