“Great location”
Reviewed July 6, 2012

We stayed at the Sokha as part of our honeymoon in June which was low season. On our arrival we were given a cold fruit drink and cool towels, which was welcome, however there was some issue in finding our booking. I'm not sure what the issue was, but later in the evening we returned to find our room decorated with flowers for our honeymoon which hadn't been there on check in so it seems like they weren't expecting us. Luckily the hotel was very quiet with only a few tour groups!

Our room was really spacious (biggest bed ever) and clean, if a little dated in the bathroom. Good aircon was really welcome as well. One thing which was odd was we had robes on the first day, but these seemed to disapear the second day and weren't replaced.

We didn't eat at the restaurant as we chose to go into the town centre which is lively and full of all sorts of places to eat and drink. The pool area was really nice, good service with bring you towels and drinks.

The location is ideal, 10 min drive from the airport and right at the intersection of the road which leads up to Angkor Wat temples one way and into the town centre a short walk or tuk tuk drive in the other direction. Seam Reap is quite compact so you can easily walk around or pick up a tuk tuk outside of the hotel for a couple dollars.

All in all I would recommend this hotel if you have a couple of days and want to be close to the temples.

From arrival until leaving not a complaint. Complimentary fruit cocktail when we checked in, taken to our room by a lovely staff member. Our room was clean and lovely. Bath robes laid out on the bed the first night. Had one of the biggest beds I have slept in. Break fast very good and plenty to choose from. Bar was nice and service very good. Just loved the pool area and enjoyed a few swims and drinks. Very centrally located and tuk tuk's available at all times. Bottled water available in the room free of charge. Staff very accommodating. Our room was on the road side, but as there isn't much traffic, there was no noise at all.

We spent 3 nights at the Sokha at the start of a holiday in Cambodia and Vietnam. The hotel was clean and the staff helpful and very friendly.
The room has the biggest bed i have seen and is surprisingly quite considering the area. Free internet access in the room was also a nice feature ...
The location is great, you can walk to Pub street and the old market or take a tuk tuk for $2 ...
Breakfast in the restaurant was good and after a hot day sightseeing, the pool was magnificent.
I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Siem Reap,

This hotel is exceptionally convenient to everything you want to get to around Siem Reap, particularly the temples. Walk downtown. 10-15 minutes from the airport. Bicycle to the temples in 25 minutes or take a tuk tuk in 10. The hotel is beautiful, everything is clean and works well, and the price is right. The staff are very nice. I recommend the hotel fully. Why would anyone choose anywhere else?

We stayed here for 3 nights in June 2012. Our trip was mainly for sightseeing and to see the Angkor Wat. Our hotel room faced the back of the hotel but was relatively quiet . The room was roomy and comfortable and the king-sized bed was one of the widest I ever slept on. The bedroom slippers looked much used and rather grubby and I was glad I brought along my own slippers.

Despite its name the hotel does not feel like a resort. There were some tour groups staying in the hotel when we were there and this period was the low season.

There were queues at the eggs and noodles stations during breakfast. On 2 mornings my noodles were half cooked and hard. The breakfast spread was alright. One morning I noticed one of the waitress using her fingers to press down the sugar granules in the sugar jar although there was a spoon in the jar. Another waitress put all the jars of condiments on a chair seat that was just vacated by a guest, while she laid the table. This hotel was supposed to be a 5* hotel and I think the staff should practise better hygiene in full view of the guests.

Service throughout was quite good. The hotel is situated within walking distance of a supermarket, restaurants and markets.

This has to be one of the older hotels in Seam Reap, but the service and grounds have really been perfected over time. The location is convenient and quiet, and the breakfast is really extensive. The massage staff were well trained, but the prices were considerably more than in town. I would suggest this hotel to older groups and folks who don't need modern amenities (Wifi, business room, etc...). If you do find yourself in need, there's an internet cafe across the street.
