Owner description: The War Museum Cambodia in Siem Reap is the only war museum in Cambodia. The museum has a unique collection, you can take a free guide (a war veteran) and you can hold small arms.

Before entering the site, I was asked if I needed a tour guide. I kindly declined because I preferred to walk around on my own w/o any interruptions.

It was basically a junk yard of decommissioned tanks, weapons, artilleries, and a few flying planes.

It's worth going only if you wanna see oxidized metal objects and able to identify the differences among all the different landmines and grenades. otherwise, skip it.

I paid $5USD for the entrance fee.

This is a little distance out of town but a nice tuk tuk ride. The tours are given by injured war veterans who can tell you quite a bit.

Our family visited the war museum and found it fascinating. True, there were few information panels, and much of military hardware was well past its best. But what made up for that was the opportunity to get so close to the exhibits - we could pick up many of the weapons, touch the tanks, peer inside the Chinese-built fighter plane and the Russian transport helicopter. The kids were particularly taken with the Kalashnikovs. It was great to be able to wander around freely and explore.

We paid a small fee (a few dollars each) to get in, and declined the offer of a tour as we prefer to explore at our own pace. Before we left we bought some t-shirts, books and drinks at the gift shop, which we hoped would go towards supporting the museum and/or the ex-soldiers. If you don't know much about recent Cambodian history I'd recommend you read the history section in your guidebook before you visit - it will make the experience all the more meaningful.

DO NOT GO, IT IS A WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY. DON"T TRUST ANYONE THERE

don't go it is a waste of time, read other reviews and you will see , it's a metal graveyard, nothing interesting and the people there just want to take your money, there is n no fee, you should only give a donation if you feel like it, but no, they make up the price as they feel, we got asked for $8 and realised soon that the person was a con and had no idea what he was saying. do not go there , even if the hotel or taxi driver recommends it, its rubbish, go and spend your money on a nice bottle of wine or whatever you fancy.

Our family visited the war museum and found it one of the most educational and touching experiences that we had in Cambodia. It was fascinating hearing the first hand accounts of the atrocities from the view of a ex-Khmer rouge soldier. Keo our guide was brilliant and we were humbled and greatful that he had the courage to share such personal heartbreaking stories. Well worth the visit and a great place to leave a donation to the victims of such horrific injuries from war and landmines.
