Uniquely created in a very different style to the other temples. The faces so creatively and skillfully carved into the stone were quite haunting for their peaceful presence.

From a distance, the Bayon Temple looks like mishmash of stones piled on top of each other. the closer you get, you start seeing the outlines of the towers covered in faces. climbing up to the top level, you are surrounded by these faces staring out in every direction. there is nothing like this temple anywhere else..a true wonder...a must see.....check out all the different gates sporting the giant faces around Angkor Thom.. and loved watching the monkey's playing around the entrance

My wife has always wanted me to visit the Bayon Temple, having been there herself many years before. As the title of this review suggests my first impression was profound. The sheer splendour of the buildings was difficult to take in and I spent ages marvelling at the skill of the artisans who had produced such work with the limited tools available at the time. Even the humidity of that September day couldn't detract from this wonderful experience.
