An amazing temple. Must do. Best in Angkor Thom. Very hot, but worth it. The Buddha's here are fantastic, and great for fun photos.

“Must-see!”
Reviewed April 5, 2013

At the centre of Angkor Thom is Bayon. With iits nearly 40 remaining towers and some 200 serene faces carved from stone and seeminly watching you from every angle, Bayon is a massively impressive series of structures. Some of it has been lost to the sands of time, but what's left is wonderous. Lots of rubble and ruin - much of it assembled neatly and numbered, ready to be pieced back together - but far more that's not in ruin. Climb to the Upper Terrace and you'll see that the highest sections of Bayon are, truly, breathtakingly beautiful. A magnificent structure and a must-see when visiting the Angkor.

“FABULOUS temple, but a sun-magnet!”
Reviewed April 4, 2013

The many faces of Bayon are worth investigating, though probably better done in the morning, before the sun shows ITS face in full-force! Probably tied for first in my ranking of Cambodian temples!
Bayon is simply amazing, though fully under the sun's glare (watch out---heat exhaustion is simply too easy to come by).
Located on the shorts circuit ($10-13 for a tuk-tuk for the day), Bayon, this is the second temple you visit after Angkor Wat. You can also ride an elephant here (in a basket, not bareback), which looks neat. There are water vendors around there, so don't worry, and your tuk-tuk driver will likely bring some water for you.

This is a temple located in the centre of Angkor Thom, consisting of a multitude of towers adorned with 216 gigantic smiling faces. It makes you happy ust looking at them! Lots of steps and rooms to visit as well as the outdoor areas. Watch your footing and take care on the steps!
