this temple was just amazing! the structure and the way the tree roots just dominated the entire area just made for one hell of a scary yet enchanting sight. Iwas a little spooked out by it though i must say, because there is a feel of loneliness and forgottenness when you enter this place. Maybe its also due to the fact that there werent as many tourists here as there were other places. There is a huge lingga here, so most Hindus would recognize that this is a temple for Lord Shiva. It is just amazing how the tree roots have dominated and broken down some sturctures.

Give some donation or walk away or give them sweets. Nice temple, the time that I visit (by accident I come 2 times), there are not many people, so I enjoy the quietness & big tree on the temple & a long walkway, just a short while before I proceed to next temple.

Preah Khan is another site where the jungle has been succeeding at reclaiming the temple. The middle of the site is a Buddhist sanctuary, but there are many Hindu carvings outside the central structure. I love the pictures of trees and ruins together. This temple is less crowded because its farther than the other temples from Siem Reap.

This is one of the smaller temples but very beautiful because of the unique way the trees have grown over the buildings in a few locations. There are so many temples you just cant imagine the scope of Siem Reap until you go there.

I have read complaints about the hawkers mobbing you from out of the forest and yes it is true. They are a bit relentless yet as is the custom in Cambodia they are always polite. On the other side to this coin it is worth considering that some people are extremely poor by western standards and so your one or two dollars spent at a temple on a fridge magnet you don't really want will mean a great deal to the seller.

Take a few one dollar notes with you when you go to the temples and you will get back kindness and goodwill in spades.

You will not forget this gorgeous location or the people.

It would be hard to talk about Preah Khan without comparing it to the nearby Ta Prohm. Like Ta Prohm, this place was built by the same Khmer king and has been left largely unrestored, so you will find large trees growing atop and among the temple ruins.

However, I prefer Preah Khan to Ta Prohm because it is less touristy, as Ta Prohm was featured in the movie Tomb Raider. This made the visit to Preah Khan a much more scenic experience for me.
